Sometimes I wonder how much suffering and evil could have been avoided if we had just listened to Chesterton talking about that fence.

I am so done with Flathub.

First you have to spend hours rebuilding the entire world just to package the simplest thing, then you have to fight with Flathub admins about the application not feeling native enough on Gnome, which apparently is the only desktop environment that exists.

It is such an incredible waste of developer time just because you can't find any maintainers that know how to properly package an application…

@UndeadLeech a great alternative is to package it for alpine, then if you're using a different distro, just use distrobox to run it.

@craftyguy @sajattack we should make a JMP/cheogram-community fork of dino to fix all the papercuts

@alpinelinux How long will it take for those packages to get uploaded?

@mntmn 100 mainboards, 340 backers. So a 30% chance I'm looking at part of my future computer?

@linmob Happy ( somewhat late ) Father's day! Praying that you all find joy and sleep in your new 'in-person' arrangement

@zudn I heard that iOS notifications use AI to "condense" multiple noifications into one ( sometimes making the kind of mistakes "AI" is known for)

@kyle @mjg59 Proprietary tooling is the reason "Stallman was right" about Bitkeeper, but "everyone was better off for having not listened to him" is the pragmatic side.
Yes, I want people to benefit from the freedom to modify code, but they will never truly be free if they are using a proprietary LLM to make their modifications.

@jameschip Much words have been spilled out, embodying different meanings than originally defined. In this case, that's two much.

@LivInTheLookingGlass cheogram hosts a biboumi instance at irc.cheogram.com/

They also run a paid service bridging to SMS / voice calls called JMP.chat
