A few folks have said, "Marketing can never work on the Fediverse."

Actually, it already does.

For example, @Raspberry_Pi

Not only are people happy to see them, they're thrilled that that @Raspberry_Pi is using a Raspberry Pi to host their own instance.

That is exceptional marketing.

It's the sort of thing that people on the Fediverse embrace with open arms.

Why? Because @Raspberry_Pi knows they're not selling a product -- they're supporting a cause.

That's why their marketing works.

Finally time to reveal the good news:

@wikimediaDE has joined the Fediverse on their own server social.wikimedia.de. And I got a job moderating for them.

There will also be another server for all the Wikimedia projects, communities, groups and so on... so stay tuned.

Btw the clues were the many custom emojis I "hid" on climatejustice.social. Here are just a few: :WikiMedia: :WikiMedia2: :wiki: :WikiCommons: ...

Proud to introduce my new activitypub project: bird.makeup . Do you wish to follow on mastodon some people that are still on the bird site? Now you can! You can even follow the muskrat if you want @elonmusk (but why would you?)

@elonmusk It is a fork of the very excellant @BirdsiteLIVE but using a non-rated limited undocumented twitter api, and with some tweaks to make in more natively integrated into activitypub. The plan is to make it the most scalable twitter bridge on the fediverse!

Them: "But I heard that on Mastodon, the mods can read your DMs!" 😲

Me: "I've got news for you about Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc..."

It’s about time we showed up here.

The new #GNOME console's chrome turns red when you run commands as root. Neat.

I work in professional fact-checking and content moderation for my day job at meedan.com and I have begun conversations about ways to do content moderation as a federated service that admins can pay to subscribe to (where moderators are paid a living wage, maybe in worker owned coops even, as opposed to big social media companies using basically sweatshop moderation labor)
