@SolusProject@mastodon.cloud It's great to see Solus making more headway after all the setbacks it has experienced as a project. Great job, team! ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘

and are truly amazing. It just goes to show the power of a dedicated and passionate community. However, everything has its issues and we tend to lose sight of that in our propaganda. This video highlights why it is necessary to provide a 'true and fair view' on Linux when encouraging newcomers: youtube.com/watch?v=rb46F24HJM.

@LPS This could be a breach of the terms of use depending on the seller or the platform. However, this article was quite informative and highlights how the lack of privacy affects our 'real' life. Well done, @protonvpn !

@e_mydata ๐Ÿ‘ Cool! I hope more mid-range phones are supported, though.

@omgubuntu It is quite true. However, developers tend to find it difficult to build products for multiple platforms. This problem will hopefully be eradicated with the steady rise of Snaps and Flatpaks. The Linux community presents a place for technical innovation. It may not become the standard but I believe more people should soon consider it as a viable alternative.

@protonvpn Using a 'dumb' TV doesn't necessarily guarantee privacy and security. If you use IPTV via set-top boxes, you are still being tracked. Be smart about what you use and consider its implications.

@hansw That's interesting.... I didn't notice it. How has it changed? ๐Ÿค” Since Tutanota does not log much , doesn't it mean there is very little metadata to give anyway? Please read the following section from the privacy policy of @Tutanota regarding compliance with government requests.

@Tutanota Please consider integrating with Mycroft AI: mycroft.ai/. Since Tutanota has no support for IMAP, the skill for emails isn't compatible with it. It would also be a great way to support . ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

The is an impressive new technology that was created to support the functioning of cryptocurrencies. It is simply a large, public and distributed 'database' that uses cryptography. It is this feature of a blockchain that makes cryptocurrency 'secure by design'. Most of us in the world are already taking steps to secure our digital life. Perhaps, we should take an effort to protect our financial activities as well and may be our shot at this.

@omgubuntu Personally, I have not had any issues with battery life on Linux. It has more or less improved since I switched. It would be nice, though, if 'every' software centre in Linux received a major overhaul and 'package management' would improve across the board. As of now, we have a gazillion ways to install software and it is getting quite messy. Hopefully, Snappy and Flatpaks will take a more prominent role in providing a solution to this issue. ๐Ÿค”

@omgubuntu Very informative! I personally feel that #6 was the most defining moment in 's history. It create a wave of mistrust about Canonical and Ubuntu as a project. I am glad that things seem to be taking a turn for the better, though. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

'Big Tech' is ruling over our lives so, when an alternative to YouTube called 'LBRY' arrived, some of us hopped on the band wagon to see where it leads. It has been here for some time now and it still seems to be struggling to deliver the kind of content one would expect from YouTube, Vimeo and other proprietary services. The future of LBRY seems to be bleak. Will LBRY succeed? ๐Ÿค”

@purism Looking forward to see the packages on Debian, especially for Librem Tunnel. Getting it to run is somewhat of a 'herculean task' for a non-tech savvy user. It would also be great if the UI for Librem Chat could be vastly improved and modernised as this will hinder mass-adoption. Keep up the great work!

I wish a merry Christmas to all my followers and everyone on the ! ๐ŸŽ‰ ๐ŸŽ ๐ŸŽ… ๐Ÿ˜„

@JoshStrobl Merry Christmas! ๐Ÿ˜ ๐ŸŽ‰ ๐ŸŽ…

In the wake of digital privacy becoming more important to users, organisations are forced to rethink their business models that are primarily based on surveillance capitalism. The issue for many organisations is that they are accountable to their shareholders first, which leads to a conflict of interest. What can be done about this? We must use tools from organisations that put the users' needs first, like NPOs and SPCs. Hopefully, more companies will be inpired to follow them. ๐Ÿ˜

@protonvpn This is very concerning. This type of behaviour may result in a trend, where ISPs and other organisations block privacy-oriented tools. If you are an aforementioned user, please lodge a complaint. Encourage more people to take their digital privacy seriously in a peaceful manner. We must not allow this type of behaviour to continue. ๐Ÿ˜€

@ironmonkey @Tutanota Indeed. Quantum computers may be single biggest threat to mass surveillance in the future. Way to go, ! ๐Ÿ˜
