What if your Social Media, Email, & Chat were run by a company that...

- Doesn't sell ads
- Doesn't sell data
- Doesn't look at your junk

It exists. Right now.

@klaatu oh before I started using Slackware again, I was using elementaryOS... so I am comfortable with a lack of customisation. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

@klaatu hmm... I might try it out. I have always wanted to try it, but forgot about it until I heard you talking about it.

@klaatu I was listening to an episode from Season 8 and you made a big deal out of Enlightenment Desktop. Do you still really like it? I was thinking about trying it out.

I see some people pressuring tech companies to build a machine that blocks entire groups from Internet Society. They must be bigger optimists than I am, all I can think of is how such a machine will be abused.

Coffee Corner! This is a little set up I made to take advantage of some extra counter space. Got my bean bucket, my grinder, and my aero press coffee maker. It's a pretty nice set up ๐Ÿ‘Œ

@brandon I used to have that exact same grinder! Then I bought some locally roasted coffee and they didn't remove all the 'stone' beans and it burned up the motor.

Interesting episode about Snaps with @popey being interviewed. Found it via

Hacker Public Radio: HPR2811: Interview with Alan Pope hackerpublicradio.org/eps.php?

So, is really pushing me towards a centric environment. Every time I look for deps for a GTK app, it have to compile them by hand and GNOME doesn't really document deps for the deps and all that, so I'm thinking about switching my laptop over to LXQt and my Desktop over to KDE.

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe oh that's right, they are monetarists. They absolutely are in favor of centralized control of the economy. You can thank them and the Keynesians for the system we now all enjoy. Greenspan was Chicago school as was the guy before him. Pushing consumer based economics rather than allowing supply and demand to flow as it will.

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe that is one school I wish I knew more about. At first I thought they were basically Rothbardians, but I think they believe in state intervention by use of violence... don't quote me on that. I need to read up on them. Rothbardians are the only.ones I know of that don't advocate violence and coercion.

Happy Mother's Day to all those who consider themselves a mother

Even those kitteh and doggo moms!

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe @xj9 oh I guarantee it. Keynesians think that they are capitalists, but their philosophy is so anticapitalists that it gets kind of weird at times. Marxists actually tend to.have a similar definition with other caveats that an Austrian wouldn't have. Marxists are generally believers in capitalism but they take a moral stance on things and try to change it with force. By Marxists, I mean strict followers of Marx's actual philosophy.

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe @xj9 one thing is true. The thing in the US right now is horrid and dumb and antifreedom and antihuman.

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe @xj9 theoretically, me as a Rothbardian should really know what capitalism is, but the thing about our common language is that the word produces different images and representations for everyone. It's the same with Communism and Marxism. When you say it to me I think of one thing and you probably think of something different. It's a wicked mess.

@ghost_bird that is one of the biggest problems. I can identify all of the faults of every system, but I have a hard time figuring out which one has more benefits to fault ratio.

@ghost_bird oh that's true... very true. It's like being a Linux user... hehehe but yes, it is an eternal struggle for me, minarchism vs anarchism
