@Wolf480pl@niu.moe I'm not sure, but I think the thing people call capitalism today more closely resembles facism, but I'm not sure.

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe that is a layer of abstraction away from capitalism. But how you define it is the popular way of defining it. When I first encountered your definition years ago I was revolted and my knee jerk was to defend 'capitalism', but then I realized whoever came up with that were violating the basic foundations of capitalism because it requires govt compliance to be effective.

@ghost_bird oh yes, I have been involved with an anarchist group looking for a sustainable alternative to the police. A lot of the alternatives break down when actually put to the test, so a sustainable alternative would be preferable.

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe also, I agree with you about the US. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe actually Finland is one the the best examples I know of to explain a country that works well. They actually support property rights and self ownership rights more than most 'capitalist' countries. I love Finland. I also happen to love Iceland for the same reason, even though we are taught that they are socialists... but they really aren't.

The only thing that really defines capitalism is the right to property and self ownership.

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe true... that would be a problem too. I think one thing would solve a lot of problems, it wouldn't be perfect, but it would remove a ton of incentive to to evil.

If the govt had no say in what business was legit other than if it was violating property rights or self ownership rights. Currently the govt allows the violation of those rights in the US.

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe aaaahhhh! Oh gosh, that's a good question too! I was actually thinking that when I answered... maybe this model isn't decentralized enough? And maybe prison isn't a great idea?

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe that would have to be handled how we handle it today. If the sherriff accepts the bribe, we have a problem. Currently sherriffs and police accept bribes all the time, I think the threat of prison helps mitigate it, but I'm not sure if that's a good resolution to the problem.

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe gosh, that's a good question... now I must think harder.

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe gosh... that's tragic... ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

That is a good question, what is the recourse now? Perhaps it is just a tragedy? A license would not stop that. Neither would a fully militarized police force, so I don't quite know what would.

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe no because scamming would lead to harm, therefore a violation of their property rights and rights to self ownership.

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe also, no more licensing of anything ever! No driver's license, no business license. Let's get rid of the whole concept of a corporation.

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe hehehe, well let me see... it seems that we would have to reorganize our economic system. The govt shouldn't have the power to make nonviolent businesses illegal... would that solve this issue?

Oh and if the sherriff wants to freelance, I don't see why he shouldn't, but he has to use his own resources.

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe by the way, I love this thought exercise. It helps me actually figure out what I think about things.

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe Bahaha! He should direct you to a list of security agencies that are trusted by the sherriff. The sherriff should provide no private protection, only public.

@ghost_bird there needs to be something to help regulate the offenses of one human against another.

If we continue to call it 'police' the public will be able to accept it easier'

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe that's a good question. I am completely against involuntary taxation... this idea needs to be crowd sourced.

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe I was thinking a sherriff's office independent of the state per town, then let the sherriff hire put private security for different instances. Effectively creating a hugely diverse grouping of of individuals that are held accountable for their actions by discrimination of pay based on performance.

Also, it would be cheaper.

We need to decentralize the police!

Yay, let's start a movement.

@todd hey, I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you for helping to create a better world with Purism and all the Librem things out there! You and the teams behind all of this are very much appreciated!

I can't wait to get my Librem 5. It is the first mobile device I have been truly excited about.
