@slightlyflightyone@vulpine.club businesses are actually just a construct of govt for taxation and regulation purposes. There was a time before govt got involved heavily (in the US) where a business was simply a person that needed something done and was willing to pay a certain amount for people to help them do it.

Now it is a complex construction that most people will never grasp fully.

@gbryant Lady Folk seem to be good at that kind of insult. I wonder if it is somehow evolvutionarily beneficial. 😃😃

@m4iler to be honest, I wish I had a simple 4G/5G connection for my home internet. Charter/Spectrum sucks so bad... I pay for 100MBPS and I get about 10

@m4iler I think it would be neat if they made something where you could drop the phone into a laptop shell and run it as a laptop. 😃😃

After compiling ALL night, GHC (Haskell Compiler) finally resulted in a nice executable install script... had I known it would take that long I would have looked around for a precompiled executable... NOW I can install Pandoc with its 137 dependencies.

@m4iler that's a good girl! Hold on to that one! Also, I had a similar experience. I told my wife I wanted to get rid of my smartphone. Her response was, "Why don't you just get that Librem 5? Even if it doesn't have apps, at least it has more functionality."

Until then she said it was too expensive. 😃😃😃

@hund@linuxrocks.online I have. I haven't owned a brand new laptop since like 2005, so my next purchase I would like it to be brand new and upgradable.

@hund@linuxrocks.online it takes me a very long time to decide to spend that kind of money... a veeeeeery long time.

@hund@linuxrocks.online it would be powerful enough to combine all my computing needs into a single device. I'm not sure if I will do it.

But I have a plan.

I want to set up a backup server with my 18TB HDD and a raspberry pi, a Calibre library server, a media server, and something else (I have 4 pis, so I don't know what else I need). But the laptop would be the only device that actually has a keyboard and I would SSH into the pis for updates and such.
