@romin
Nope, he'll make 76 more alts and start 36 more instances — collect them all 🤣
@thatbrickster
The option to disable WebP support being removed from Firefox right after critical vulnerability in libwepb was discovered was even more suspicious IMO 😅
@thatbrickster
Yes, good point! I can't tell for certain which percentage for it is in Rust — haven't built it in quite a while as I stopped updating it 😂
But it always seemed to me that more and more components get re-implemented in Rust with time — this is the general direction it's heading, so having JPEG XL in Rust would be natural even from the perspective of reducing maintenance "costs" — that was my point.

And I use the CapsLock LED to indicate the alternative layout — which is quite useful when you have to use a non-Latin one often. I don't have to use any software indicators for that.

My old HP laptop allows remapping most LEDs to most other things: such as internal storage or network activity, audio input/output mute and so on — making extra LEDs extremely useful! My old MacBook Pro isn't as flexible in this regard, I suppose it depends on how well the embedded controller is supported by the Linux kernel.

You can declare a variable with static lifetime, but having a static variable in C sense, considering the borrow checker, would be kinda against the design of the language, you can still do that, but as the compiler can't guarantee thread safety, all modifications to the value of such a variable would have to happen in unsafe block: https://doc.rust-lang.org/reference/items/static-items.html
@romin
Yeah, now that I think about it, looking for it there might've been a good idea 🤔
General purpose search for a video that is the intro of the game Sheep is hindered by the fact that apparently, there is a YouTube blogger (vlogger?) named "The Sheep Game" — never heard of him/her, but that's me, not the search engines.
There is a "let's play" video on YT that starts with this intro, but downloading that to cut it seemed like too much trouble.
@romin
Too bad, I have to do something about this sheep fixation I woke up with.
I even had to find a DVD with that game to grab that video off it (yes, I have a boxed version of it😅).
They made us believe that nothing gets lost on the Internet now and yet there is no unedited intro of a game that doesn't even pre-date the Web 😩
And I couldn't even find that quote "real <someone> ship" until I remembered by myself that it's attributed to Steve Jobs. Search engines are broken, we're doomed! 😱
@romin
Well, Firefox is in Rust for the most part, so having image codec also in Rust kinda makes sense! 🤷
And unlike Go, Rust has turned into a tool that actually works not only on a subset of Google approved platforms, which are macOS with Apple Silicagel, Windows x64 and Linux x86_64 and AArch64.
@romin
Can we at least have this equally forgotten masterpiece then?
Just any kind of sheep!

What makes you think that you can sink my battlesheep?! 😡
Mozilla Is Interested In A Rust JPEG-XL Decoder For Firefox & Google Might Develop It: https://www.phoronix.com/news/Mozilla-Interest-JPEG-XL-Rust
God fucking damn it! Can we have images without Google involvement already? 🤬
@admitsWrongIfProven @Hyolobrika
Ha-ha-ha! Well noted!
This was just a wordplay on "power/force projection", I'm not even such a fan of aircraft carriers 😊
@kravietz
Ha-ha-ha! Yeah, that definitely used to be the case — but I was pretty sure I got rid of all that "legacy" years ago 😄
@koteisaev

Just in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
