Looks like this time it's not captain only 😏
@yikes

@thor
And you can have ultrasound and ultra-violence on one device! 😂
@LordArse

@iska@mstdn.starnix.network And he's, well… fried!
TBH I thought these were actual words first, not his name 🤣

@thor Jazzy's nice!
I see, you're a direct opposite of me when it comes to making music. You're more into playing actual instruments and keeping things simple so they remain musical. I always make it as multi-layered and processed as it can get to the point of being incomprehensible. And I started my path from industrial/noise — much darker stuff. Unfortunately I don't have much to share except for this one that I use as ringtone, which it's good at as you can answer before it gets too noisy 😂

@thor Not to make it look like I know a lot about this stuff, I assure you, I don't 🤭
Music theory was never my forte, I was always more into synthesis and sound design. That is what makes classical orchestral instruments so mysteriously charming — they play nicely with more complex synthetic sounds, a perfect match. But having to rely on them alone won't be easy.

@thor The stuff you've posted so far as files (and that I've listened to) was more like drafts/musical ideas and I didn't explore your SC page properly yet. I'm pretty sure you have something fairly complex and more polished there, don't you? 😉
Anyway building a longer composition based on an idea you've come up with even if it's just a melody isn't rocket science, but arranging that for orchestra… Oh my! 😱

@thor Did you ever arrange any of your works for orchestra? I think it's a fairly complex discipline of its own, at least I've even had a separate textbook for that. Especially coming from computer composition — you just can't use your usual gimmicks and have to achieve similar effects by knowing the difference between the sound of many orchestral instruments. Even thinking about that scares the shit out of me 😅

@thor It also won't hurt the beat makers to realize that real drummer has only two arms and can't do everything the drum-machine can 😆

@inference
I wonder if Akiyuki Shinbou of Madoka and Bakemonogatari fame has anything to say on all this. He used to be pretty open about loli stuff. It would be truly surreal if this witch hunt gains steam and he gets canceled for that 😅

@thor Yes, you do. Just try it somewhere else, and when you take you production system down next time, re-implement it there.
I use this trick on my makeshift file server at home — I even have a file in there named something like "looks_like_the mount_failed_please_check", so it doesn't look empty even in this case — because empty is ambiguous.

@thor Why don't you use the old trick of making the directory used as mount point read-only? When the actual mount happens, it becomes write-accessible and voila!
Of course when the underlying file system fails (in case of network errors if it's a remote one), it can't just magically disappear as there are processes that have files open and that have to get killed before unmount can happen, even forced one 🤷

@inference I don't believe that the fact that you like shooting daemons in the video game Doom will eventually make you get a shotgun and take it to the streets to shoot people. But apparently some believe otherwise. Debate as old as fiction itself. Never gets old 🤷
I think this time it's not about having a real victim either.

@inference How could you do that to this fictional and non-existent character who is a minor?! She is some fictional and non-existent character's daughter!
🤣

Just search for "dumb fucks" in that piece.
Well, to be honest, I expect nothing less from a creature responsible for one of the top data mining operations, but that still has duct tape over mics and webcam of his laptop 😅
@atomicpoet

@rootbsd
Oh, yes it's still expensive, just not too expensive 😅
With hardware synths it's way worse, even something modern by DSI is expensive and if you go for vintage, but sought after, it costs a fortune.
@deprecated_ii

@rootbsd
Nothing in this setup looks particularly expensive — mostly MIDI-controllers, not real synths. The controller right in front of her (?) looks like Midiplus X Pad, the soundcard is most probably RME Fireface 400, the thing on the left might be an actual synth or groovebox, it looks horribly familiar, but I can't pinpoint it. A drum machine, judging by layout, something in the vein or Korg Electribe, but it's definitely not it. The MIDI-keyboard is probably M-Audio Axiom.

@nerdtronics@mstdn.starnix.network I was already typing the "Where is the vibing white cat's face?" comment, but everything's alright — here he comes 😹

@monorail Is that a notification so your roommate knows where did the plums go… or an invitation?
Because it does sound ambiguous 🤣
