My problem with Firefox isn't that, but their removal of the preference to disable WebPee and this new data collection facility to support Google's effort to get rid of third-party cookies — in the end we very predictably got both: third-party cookies AND new tool for collecting your data.
It's still better than anything based on Google Chrome of course, but I'm staying on 115esr. Should probably roll Thunderbird back too — nothing works in that thing!

Hey #OpenBSD folks:
How do you deal with ports that have suddenly "dropped support for OpenSSL older than 3.0"?
Is there a way to patch them to compile with the system LibreSSL or should I just be adding a dependency on security/openssl/3.4 ?
I'd rather patch them to use LibreSSL if possible.

Ich suche idealerweise zum 1. März 2025 eine Teilzeitstelle (±28 Wochenstunden, was aber nicht bedeutet, daß ich nur ¾ so effektiv bin), remote (aus rechtlichen Gründen wohl für eien deutsche Firma) oder in Bonn linksrheinisch oder naher Umgebung. Ich suche eine Festanstellung, etwas Sicheres: im aktuellen Job bin ich seit fast 16 Jahren und habe auch ein Zwischenzeugnis („Note sehr gut“), das ich mit dem CV gern auf Anfrage sende.
Ich bin „Infrastrukturexperte“ und Systemintegrator, an der Schnittstelle zwischen Entwicklung und Administration. Ich programmiere seit den 1990ern, habe sowohl eine GNU/Linux-Distro als auch ein #BSD-Derivat gebaut, bin #Debian Developer (und habe bei der Portierung auf mehrere Architekturen geholfen) und in der #FOSS-Welt recht bewandert, insbesondere bei altbewährten Technologien (inklusive Softwarearchäologie ☻). Ich kann IPv6, reguläre Ausdrücke (regex), C, low-level-Programmierung, Geskripte, und diverses andere, mache aber auch Lizenzaudits (wie bei Debian-Paketierung und BSD Ports), (Azubi‑)Schulungen zu Urheberrecht/Lizenzen/FOSS und so, usw. — und freien Notensatz (digitale Musiknoteneditionen, Vokalsatz). Ich funktioniere am besten nicht in einem Scrumtology-Team sondern mit Aufgabenpaketen, die man in Ruhe abarbeiten kann, und wenigen Meetings zwischendurch.

Ha-ha-ha-ha! When I was playing ADOM, there was no graphical version 👴
And Dwarf Fortress — I've always wanted to try it, I liked ADOM, NetHack and the likes of Moria, so lack of graphics was never off-putting to me. But ultimately I never got to it and later everyone switched to MineCraft, which was somehow considered a successor although they had nothing in common, except for the loose "sandbox" idea 🤪
