In fact three vaccines have been developed in Russia: one was based on tried but old tech — this one was the most trustworthy, but it was produced in tiny quantities, it was nearly impossible to get vaccinated with it even in Moscow.
The second one had been raising questions since its inception — some experts expressed concerns that it couldn't work even in theory.
At some stage of trials it was proven to be ineffective — lack of antibodies, and was called off.

Well, sadly the efficacy of all COVID vaccines turned out to be a far shot from what they've been telling us — I'm not some anti-vax dude and I don' even think that Sputnik was much worse than the others (maybe only a tiny bit😅), but going such great lengths to get access to a vaccine that hadn't even proven to be effective at the time… I don't know — seems extremely fishy.

I don't know. Its a niche market nowadays — not as profitable. I remember upper management folks adoring their Blackberries in the 2000s — it was a high profit margin market at the time, but times change and nowadays you're better off cranking out "slate" phones for the wider audience, even if you're a smaller company.

Can't tell, never had it. Might depend on your use cases. Besides, I expect it to be a day night difference in terms of usability when you use the Android it came with compared to when you put e.g. Ubuntu Touch on it — which I would probably do, or rather PostmarketOS even, don't see the point in having another Android device — but you might have other things in mind of course.

In this form factor — probably yes, never dug into it, but if we're talking physical keyboard in broader sense, there is this: https://liliputing.com/phones/fxtec-pro1-x-specs/
There is Cosmo Communicator: https://www.www3.planetcom.co.uk/cosmo-communicator
I think there could be other options to choose from 🤷

I remember using English when commenting on bugs/incidents even working for a Russian company — just so that the few foreign colleagues we've had could understand it too. Few had problems with it.

I don't see the point in learning languages outside the environment where I would have to use it daily. I'm good at picking the vocabulary up, I remember working with Germans and I started understanding what they are talking about — not enough to speak it, but it seems to me that learning languages isn't that hard.
But for my job routine of course I would have to use English — at least originally, which I expect to not be a problem when it's tech related.

It's kinda sad actually because I really like Poles — it was one of my early jobs and I had a colleague from Poland and once he came of Moscow on a business trip, we had really great time in the after hours, I'm not really got a keeping in touch so we've lost contact since.
Almost every Pole I meet online turns out a fun person too… But yeah, I have to accept the reality 😩

It's not even about the political statement, there are reasons to stay away from Russian tech even if it's manufactures in Taiwan.
Just as Americans are often… alarmed about electronic equipment that offers security/privacy made in US — just a few days ago I was accused of being on "CIA instance"🤣(But why would a Russian person care about CIA?)
@admitsWrongIfProven
NordStream 2? 🤪
@icedquinn @dcc @sun
Is this company Russian? The facts that their website has only Russian and English languages, they suggest using Russian online stores and some key people have Russian names look *kinda* suspicious to me 🤨
None
Just in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
