Suggestion to fight like a lion to change the uni course incoming!
Or is it changing the uni? Moving to another country? 🤭
Anything goes in matters of war and not getting a laptop with Windows!

@kaia
I had no idea you could get such a machine for so little 😅
The civilisation is nearing collapse indeed 👴

OMG indeed! I'm not even trading not having lunch for that shit 🤭
Being Russian, I could have a shot of this for free, but I had chosen wearing an FFP3 3M mask instead — feels more reliable.

I’ve been getting a number of phishing emails purporting to be from Hetzner saying my payment into needs to be updated. It’s interesting excuse they targeting email addresses that are plausibly associated with my various fediverse service domains. The from addresses are nonsensical, and the link to login Hetzner are easy give away that it’s a scam.

Anyhow, please be on alert if you use Hetzner. I am guessing the play here is to steal your Hetzner login credentials, and (probably) payment information. Hetzner does have an alert in their portal about phishing attacks purporting to be from them so I think they are aware, though I found the targeting to be a bit novel.

Stay safe out there.

I wanted to share an awesome Expenses tracker, built with Textual. The author has done an amazing job -- it looks gorgeous!

is there a good comparison of the server resources required for running different #activitypub servers somewhere? i'm interested mostly in cpu, ram and network traffic

@nebulos
OMG, now them naming it FIDO makes a lot of sense! 😲

@catto
It's good until you get addicted and realise that not getting any sleep for five days straight probably isn't that much fun 😈

@Kancept
For both I have my own sets of patches to make them look… less like a blast from the past — with colour emojis you can spice up any UI! this is what tut looks like on an old ThinkPad of mine: social.librem.one/@m0xee/11298
And here is Bloat on my old Lumia: social.librem.one/@m0xee/11221
As tut doesn't display images — but you can invoke your favourite image view if you like, and Bloat is self hosted — so I can do whatever I want with CSS, I'm quite comfortable browsing the Fediverse at night!

@Kancept
Some of the computers I use are… I can of course call them retro to make it sound cooler, but in fact they are just old and anemic — so I mostly go for minimalism 😄
I like using tut — check it out if you like TUI software: github.com/RasmusLindroth/tut/
Or Bloat frontend: git.freesoftwareextremist.com/ — which uses basic HTML with optional and very minimal JavaScript, it even runs on my old Windows 10 Mobile phone!

@thatguyoverthere
I hope it does! At least that is what my plan was 😈

@kevinrothrock
No one expects him to be particularly competent, I think he doesn't fully understand the situation yet — much less how to deal with it. But Trump is able to act unpredictably — something Pooteen expects only he himself can do.
Ordering the Tomahawk strike on Syria, or this drone strike killing top Iranian commander: cnn.com/2020/01/02/middleeast/
Some, myself included — and I'm hardly a Trump sympathiser, expect him to do something like that again, something that would shake the table🤷

@Kancept
Ha-ha-ha, yeah — I'm mostly a desktop guy myself so I tend to forget about the "app" side of things.
Using a browser is an option, but last time I checked I didn't like Masto's mobile web UI — sidebar on the right taking too much screen space and other minor details like that. Again it's possible to fix with CSS injections, but using a dedicated app is more comfy for a lot of people and integrating proper "night more" would sure be welcome!

@gemlog
Yeah, I totally like your approach — computers are fun, but once you start doing that all day everyday, eventually you start hating it — at least that's how I usually ended up with: having a good job and making good money, but burning out — and taking to take an extensive break, which I could afford. It's fun, but I don't think this can go on indefinitely.
Being able to work outdoors, doing physical work, is good — but it's hard to maintain proper balance once you get a desk job.

@gemlog
It would certainly take time to adapt, but I'm open to learning whatever language I have to and culturally I'm quite openminded.
