But I didn't ask them to run all these services. If they are willing to stop, shut the company down and let everyone go home… I'd say: "Go for it! You have my complete support!" 😏

Also, even though there is no algorithm in Twitter sense, and I don't know whether this is true for Mastodon, but for other Fediverse software such as Pleroma it is: if someone I follow likes the post — although I don't see it on my "Home" timeline, but I see it on global "Known Network" timeline — the instance I'm on at least retrieves the post that someone I follow liked and I can discover it via search or the global timeline, so it still helps post's visibility.

Put that mannequin down! 😡

That would be Nheko — I'm using it on my Windows machine, it's quite feature-complete when it comes to chats, but I'm not sure it supports voice calls and all that.
And I agree, DeltaChat is a nice option to explore, they have even prepared the scripts facilitating self-hosting email services to be used with their apps — probably won't work for me as they rely on containers, but I can always deploy it in a compatible manner.

By taking over their instance an wiping the database? 😈

@romin
What does dbus have to do with all this, do you consider all software using local sockets broken?
@romin
gpg-agent and ssh-agent are built on a similar principle, but are otherwise unrelated. Seriously, what's wrong with ssh-agent?
@romin
What's wrong with it? 🤔
@romin
No need to, enforcing a complex password that would be unlocked together with system keychain looks easy.
On machines I use interactively, I run ssh-agent on login and enter this passphrase once — and yet this offers a degree of security against the keys being stolen. It's not perfect, but it's somewhat better than not having one 🤷

Ha-ha-ha-ha! I had no idea we can thank MS for this one. I've never used it, but it doesn't even seem… microsoftish to me 🤪
And yeah, valid point — in the work environment you still have to deal with MS a lot, but that's work — it'd never be all about pleasure.
With personal computing you can avoid dealing with MS entirely these days, again unlike Google — their stuff is like cancer, I put a great deal of effort into avoiding it entirely and I still can't 😞
@mangeurdenuage
> I'm not booting into windows
I'm not claiming you are, just theorising why they might be giving you this warning. In the end it might be unrelated to SecureBoot — the fact that MBR doesn't support disks bigger than 2 Tb would certainly slip my mind if I didn't run into this myself.
@millihertz
Oh, in this context — yes, that certainly IS a memory safety issue!
But in general… There are lots of other way to fsck the parser up 😆

Just in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
