i don’t even need to hear from the EFF to have a good argument why adshit shouldn’t run on my computers

the argument is: it’s my computer

no seriously. are they paying me for the use of my computer to run their adshit? no? then it doesn’t need to run on my computer.

that shit is for me, not doubleclick or whatever the bloody thing is called now. if it ain’t making me happy or bringing me money, it’s out

They are paying you in kind.

By running search engines, by running your email services, by providing storage for your documents and photos, by powering your blogs and social media, by giving you maps and directions, by translating ideas between languages, and in so many other ways — ALL of which cost money — that you DON’Y

But I didn't ask them to run all these services. If they are willing to stop, shut the company down and let everyone go home… I'd say: "Go for it! You have my complete support!" 😏

BINGO! Then you shouldn’t be affected by any of this.

I rely only sparingly on their services, and for that, I know that the exploitation is MUTUAL — I exploiting them in proportion to them exploiting me.

To minimize exploitation, I use paid alternatives whenever available.

The problem is with people who want to enjoy “FREE” services and complain about exploitation. No company owes them what they think is their #entitlement.
