I think it was announced not long ago that Google Groups would no longer interoperate with usenet and usenet guys were like: "Okay, we're out then. So long, Google! And thanks for all the fish",— an interesting development indeed, a perfect example when an attempt to force people into something didn't work so well 😂

Someone gave me this old wicker basket and my cats have nearly destroyed it in just a couple of years, despite it being padded from the inside with a rug — to make their sleeping in it more comfortable. They have even tore the handle off — how did they manage? I don't know, seems to require a lot of effort 😹

Even here, where there are no algorithms, my posts that get the most attention is me besmearing Google — not those 5000 character longreads. I'm not the attention-seeking type so I'm fine, but a lot of people — they go for what's easier 🤷

I've been thinking about this phenomena a lot and this is what I came up with: a lot of people are still on social media for attention, when they post photos of their arts and crafts, long thoughtful texts — it gets little attention, but when they start bashing someone famous, they start getting hundreds of likes, follows from people whom they didn't know before.
Social networks encourage such behaviour — but it's not about algorithms, it's how people work — they like gossip.

Ну и через них уже нашёл других, в том числе и тех, кто пишет, что называется, «редко но метко». Мне кажется, вообще, лучше держать отдельную «медленную» ленту с теми, кто редко пишет, и всё остальное на случай когда захочется шума.

Схема рабочая! На Librem Social вообще нет других лент, кроме твоей собственной, и когда я тут зарегистрировался, у меня не было простого способа найти новых друзей, ну и я подписался на пару тэгов и учёток, о существовании которых знал не из Феди. Сидел там в комментариях и писал всем подряд. Так со временем подписался на парочку людей, кто репостит много разного.

У меня два стареньких ноута имеют такое время работы от батареи, что затыкает за пояс то, что у них было с их оригинальными системами — Windows и Mac OS X. И они с Intel-графикой как раз.
На ATI/AMD всё сильно хуже? Буду иметь ввиду 🤔

As much as I have certain dislike for labelling like "vegan meat" or "vegan mozzarella" — clearly they aren't that, I still don't see how branding that explicitly says "not milk" or "not butter" (mentioned in the article) could be confusing to anyone 🤷
