On the other hand, some games using e.g. Unreal engine look visually impressive, but are unplayable at higher graphics settings even on hardware that is newer than the game — probably because they are doing things they aren't supposed to do with that engine, and maybe even the choice of engine was wrong to begin with 🤷

> But this is also an optimization issue. Some studios do it, and some don't.
Exactly! RAGE (2011) still looks impressive today and it doesn't have high hardware requirements at all, it ran well even on a laptop with a discrete GPU contemporary to it. Hell, even Doom 3 doesn't look that bad TBH.
That's because they knew exactly what that could do with that engine and it works really well.

I think it's already happening. I have to admit that all my computers were high-end in their time, nowadays all computers I use are older than a decade and I don't feel limited in any way hardware-wise. And I barely ever use the full computing power of my phone. An octacore Aarch64 SOC and 8 gigs of RAM, seriously? I could've even used that as a desktop replacement, although I would never mind extra RAM and usually have it maxed out 😁

Damn, that Return to Oz scene looks scary as hell, I don't think I have ever watched it, now I think I should 😅

А мне кажется, неплохая причина, которую можно назвать, если проспишь работу — надо брать на вооружение: я не ленивая жопа — я просто богобоязненный, традиционные ценности! 🤣

Trump launches a new Never Surrender* sneaker line
* — Except if you're Ukraine, in this case please surrender to my good friend Vladimir
🇷🇺 Navalny’s death, which comes nearly two years to the day after Russia invaded Ukraine and ahead of sham elections in March, is a reminder that Putin’s regime is waging a war on two fronts — externally against Ukrainian citizens and internally against its own.

Who's the little guy in the upper left corner? 🤔
@bjeelka
As much as I might even agree with this, not be his avid supporter, consider his team to be a bunch of useless fuckers and not support his decision to return to Russia and be a martyr — yeah, I do think he could do so much more if he wasn't in prison, helping impose more effective sanctions being the first that comes to mind…
And even though I get that it could be that last day when this could be considered "funny"… still, I don't think that mocking his team today is appropriate 😩

I don't think you have to go that far — UBO has an option to disable scripts, large media and third party content by default. It breaks a most websites, but at least in this case I have to approve each of these things myself — often it makes cookie consent and other such things pop up, but at least in this case I know what I am in for.
