@gemlog I have this laser toy for cats with a servo-drive, there is an app to control the movement over Bluetooth and it has several built-in modes to move it in random directions so cats can have fun.
But that is not what I have in mind. I was thinking about pairing it with a web cam to implement movement tracking so the laser dot follows the movement. My level of computer-related autism isn't quite there yet, but who knows what future holds… 😼
@m0xEE

@gemlog So, yes, you're right it's just a hobby/fun DIY stuff — just as good as any other hobby stuff. Likewise I can use any of my laptops as a Bluetooth speaker. I barely use it, but I know I can 😂

@gemlog
My backstory would be incomplete without mentioning that I have a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse lying next to my bed — that is what I had used to control mpv running on a laptop hooked up to a TV in front of my bed when I didn't have this web-based remote control. So if I wanted to do as little as possible I could've just kept using that, but I came up with "I mostly use it to play/pause and rewind 10 seconds back, why don't I use my phone for that?" — so now I have it 😄

@PublicLewdness
Weren't there several "revisions" of SE. They have just used the more recent SOC, but kept the exterior close to what iPhone 5 was and I think they pulled that off several times, or at least intended too🤔
I remember reading (last year?) about the newer model being planned, but was cancelled.

@theorytoe Huh, you're full of surprises 😁
It's still has uses nowadays, I think those who study law and medical doctors to be still study it at the college.

@gemlog
Bringing in the whole set of KDE libs looks like an overkill to me. I've seen a better remote, which was an Android app, but it required node.js on the side mpv is running on, and I was like: "Whoah, wait a minute…" 😮
This modified script is literally two files and doesn't use anything but Python's standard library. Hmm… I should probably move CSS to a separate file to minimize page reload time 🤔
@m0xEE

@safiuddinkhan It's not good at producing something useful, but it's good at producing something that looks like it is useful and management is usually totally fine with it. Set the goals -> do something so it looks like the goal was achieved -> get the bonus. Rinse, repeat 😅

@retr0id Soon the question we'll be asking would be: "Was this software written by CodeGPT?" 😂

@theorytoe Yep. I even tried learning Latin, but the book I had wasn't very good and it was long time ago so I don't remember a thing now 😅

@theorytoe
J is still used that way in several European languages, in Czech, even in German, probably Polish too. In Spanish and related languages, Jesus is Khesoos I think.
They didn't standardize it early on so everyone just made this stuff up 😂

@theorytoe Yeah, something like that — used as both, as a consonant and as a wovel, also I was used in place of J IIRC 🤔

@theorytoe People who get off to Roman Empire often do that because U didn't exist in Latin, V was used where U is used nowadays 🤷

@DarthPutinKGB I wonder what the real COVID death toll for Russia is 🤔

@neural_meduza А потом ещё и из фильмов вырезать его!

Yesterday I realized that there is a way to control MPV with an IPC, it can be configured to listen to named pipe/socket. So I had decided to hack together a web app in python to control it, but then found an already existing one here: https://github.com/FIX94/mpv-browser-remote
It only does a bare minimum, so I've added a couple of extra buttons and did a facelift, also got rid of javascript: original script used XmlHttpRequest object to issue POST requests, mine uses GET requests so buttons are normal links and the script replies with a 301 redirect back to /. I should've probably used a hidden frame, but that's unnecessary complication IMO.
Well, now it looks nice and still gets the job done (without JS) 😄

My fluffbros would never rat me out I think — they look real gangsta themselves 😹
