@futzle My cats only sleep if they are completely confident they did everything they could to lure me into playing with them and it didn't work.
One of them always caries this fishing rod toy around and brings it even at night time when you wake up to go to the toilet. What if you don't fall asleep and here is a toy just in case. Why not? 😹

I really liked it when it all started, everything was built from source then and they had something like USE-flags in Gentoo's Portage. There even was a backport to 10.4/10.5 — Tigerbrew and I used that.
Then they've made precompiled binaries a priority and gave up on flags and I gave up on using Macs 🤭

OMG, yes, you're right!
In Russia it was all about piracy at the time and CDs weren't copies of original CDs, but contained Windows in several languages + shitload of other pirated software thus all the extras were cut out. So I discovered that a little later, but I do remember that! 😄

@parker It's really rare to have computer parts not made in China nowadays. I have my old Mac Pro that has "Made in Ireland" on it, as for Canada, I have a NAD amp and a CD player, that I think still weren't made in China at the time, but I might be wrong ☺

His case did polarize the Twitter crowd though. Some portrayed his as a hero who stopped BLM riots, others — as some demon who went there to shoot poor protesters. He was neither.
I'm sort of left-leaning myself, but there were facts that he used the gun appropriately to the circumstances and the guys he shot weren't exactly saints, but they still insisted that he shot them for fun. It was so stupid 🤦

That is debatable. I still have my old vacuum cleaner rated at 1800W and I like using it much more than the modern ones.

@furgar I've lost some weight myself recently, so no self-consolation here, and of course it's her body so she can do whatever she wants with it, but I did like the old Adele better. She just looks wrong now 🤷

@millihertz I have an old Thinkpad T43 that I still use from time to time and I've adopted this nice power saving trick: I issue SIGSTOP to all firefox processes when screensaver kicks in and SIGCONT on screen unlock. There are no notifications when I'm not actively using the computer, but idle battery life improved immensely!
