hmm. having bade the pi 400 a semi-permanent farewell, this thin client i'm using instead seems to be clocking up a power consumption of about 11W on average. interestingly, going from 4kp60 to 4kp24 took a watt off the power usage - and while Firefox doesn't use much to idle, interacting with Firefox uses a reasonably consistent 2W.

browsers are huge power drains, and everyone who contributed to that should hang their heads in shame :-P

@millihertz I have an old Thinkpad T43 that I still use from time to time and I've adopted this nice power saving trick: I issue SIGSTOP to all firefox processes when screensaver kicks in and SIGCONT on screen unlock. There are no notifications when I'm not actively using the computer, but idle battery life improved immensely!
