(4/3) TLDR: Just as the OSI said at opensource.org/osd-annotated ... #OpenSource by its intrinsic nature requires free redistribution and allows anyone to do so.

"If we didn't do this, there would be lots of pressure for cooperators to defect." -- OSI

If you want to pick and choose who gets your software based upon what country they're in, that's proprietary software.

🇺🇳 If #FreeSoftware is considered as an aspect of the #HumanRights of education and expression, then access to that scientific work should be made available equally to all human beings without regard to nationality, race, religion, country of origin, or other status.

"In banking, electricity pricing, the telecommunications sector and the supermarket industry, the hallowed “free market” forces never really did have a dog’s chance of functioning adequately in a country as small as New Zealand. Markets simply converged. What we got landed with were cartels, duopolies and near-monopolies. Which has meant that the consumer continues to be screwed."

We'd like to make a call to help out our friend colleague Brian Tinoota, from Multi-Talented Makerspace, Zimbabwe. He dedicates so much time and effort for the betterment of his community. Now he's received a great opportunity to work on his own passion in the Storytelling Beyond Words course at Emerson College in the UK. All the logistics are already in place – can we come up with the funds to help him do this?

In Indiana, our economic goal is third world nation. People in poverty working in low cost manufacturing and agriculture jobs. Plus plenty of low wage service workers along the interstates. Cut taxes for businesses and the wealthy, raise regressive gas and sin taxes, deregulate, and underfund education and environmental outcomes. Just like Reagan preached. (WWRD)

Was just informed of the existence of this resource, which I still need to fully explore, but I sense it's important: Sociocracy 3 - it's ticked pretty much all the boxes right off the bat. sociocracy30.org/ Are others aware of this already? If so, what do you think? Do you use these resources?

It's hard to believe it's been a year since I replaced my personal computer with a and laptop dock. In this post I talk about my impressions, the docks I've tried, and using my Librem 5 as a tablet. puri.sm/posts/my-first-year-of

The preponderance of wilfully ignorant, entitled people without compassion on the centralised corporate-owned social media makes me despair for our species' future.

@lordbowlich @dazinism @priryo Streaming is a fundamentally fucked idea and I don't have faith in anyone building something new that doesn't understand this from the start. Streaming is just a rebranding of DRM, sold as a way to solve nonexistent problems. It's a con the record industry used to take people's personal libraries away from them and put them under complete control of capital. There is no problem with downloading media once and saving it. Continually redownloading it is pointless.

I do hope this whole war gets a few CIO types starting to scratch their heads and wonder "hmm, will the people running The Cloud always be on the same side of a global cyber and sanctions war as us?"

Particularly if those CIOs live in Europe or Asia-Pacific.

It's one thing to instantly lose access to foreign funds and globalised supply chains. Those were always externalities you knew you were exposed to, right?

It's another to instantly lose access to your internal corporate data.
