Luckily, almost none of the important infrastructural parts of the Internet depend on enterprise Microsoft products.

Companies rushing to uninstall CrowdStrike enterprise-wide because “it’s a risk”: very many

Companies understanding that the exact same risk exists in every single Very Enterprise Security Software Tool: approximately zero

The thing that needs to be shouted from the rooftops is this:

Markets don't efficiently provide public services. They do, however, love to cannibalise them, by asset stripping and turning core departments into vehicles for rent seeking.

We tried neoliberalism for four decades. It's destroying everything except the balance sheets of the ultra wealthy. Time to kill it and move on.

Watching what some are pronouncing "the world's worst IT disaster" unfolding from the comfort of a completely Enterprise-Windows-free zone that is, unsurprisingly, entirely unaffected. Sorry for those poor sods who're having to mop up this mess - created by IT policy makers who probably don't have to do 'call'.

That’s what tends to happen if you trust your infrastructure to a monopolistic corporation that hawks second-rate #software.

Banks, airlines and media outlets hit by global outage linked to #Windows PCs - theguardian.com/australia-news well, you know, some of us have been warning people for 30 years not to use Windows.... #OpenSource

Wow, looks like the fragile Windows monoculture has crashed worldwide. Had to happen eventually.

I feel bad for folks who're forced to run Windows (no one would do it by choice, would they?): mastodon.nz/@alexs/11281141781

"I want to remind the court once more that my reasons for taking action were not beliefs or opinions. Earth’s life-support systems are breaking down due to human activities, whether we believe it or not." - Cressida Gethin, court statement

She was sentenced to four years in jail.

give @zulip a try! Much better UX than Slack or Discord in my opinion

I got so lost in Zulip but have encountered serious true believers in the hacker class

Reminder that UX is relative

How did you see this poll?

(this poll = the one you're responding to right now)

@yala thanks - it's been very eye opening for me, too, given how many people are dead-set against self-hosting, usually claiming that it's not worth the trouble. It's *totally* worth the trouble (which is far less troublesome than most people assert). The cost profile is #libre software's best-kept secret. It's almost unbelievable, except that I can prove it's the real deal.

Platforms die, open standards survive and evolve. I smell a revival of The Web the way it should be. Decentralised. Open. Fun.

I've tagged version 0.0.1 of - a client library.

The project was initiated and developed by
Sadiq (gitlab.gnome.org/pksadiq) in order to add Matrix support to chatty (gitlab.gnome.org/World/Chatty) for @purism

It has been a bit 😴 over the past months but my recent interest in derailed me and I had a look at the code base, cleaned up minor things and figured it might make sense to tag a release so here we go: source.puri.sm/Librem5/libcmat

Thanks @devrtz for the reviews!

J.D. #Vance Left His Venmo Public. Here’s What It Shows - wired.com/story/jd-vance-venmo "reveals connections ranging from the architects of Project 2025 to enemies of Donald Trump—and the populist's close ties to the very elites he rails against." well, of course...
