The elephant in the room. Folks in NZ gov't need to read this: https://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-poses-threat-to-germanys-digital-sovereignty-warns-study/ and ask themselves, seriously... have we in NZ (and in every other country, for that matter) made precisely the same strategic blunder? Is it a failure of vision and leadership? I think so.
@Gargron Nah, it's the trojan horse into Slack. That's what it is. Once they own Giphy, they pretty much own Slack.
So every time someone posts a #Giphy GIF in a chat and every time you open Giphy in your app / keyboard, Facebook will get data on you, did I get that right? Is that why a GIF collection was worth $400M?
The number of small banks is declining dramatically.
Creation of new banks has stopped almost entirely.
Regulations are burdening small banks the most, although they were least responsible for the '08 financial crisis.
We need proportional regulation.
A new article "Small banks are massacred by disproportionate regulation" on Mutual Interest, a free online newspaper #coop owned by the readers and writers.

Seems to me that *this* is what we really have to worry about: https://www.theguardian.com/news/2020/may/13/naomi-klein-how-big-tech-plans-to-profit-from-coronavirus-pandemic The tech billionaires and their corporate arms definitely won't save us. They will, however, be delighted to exploit us.

Amusingly, despite MSFT's massive PR campaign, looks like not too many have been taken in by this completely pointless development: http://techrights.org/2020/05/07/microsoft-wsl-evasion/
