@phoronix Wow, that performance per watt this CPU puts out is amazing!
@gadgetoid @mntmn I agree with having something included in there for scale (and I even like the lego minifig idea). Other things you might consider including for size comparisons might be, a dvd/blu-ray case, a nintendo switch, a soda can, or perhaps a run-of-the mill paperback novel.
If you think back to the old macbook air reveal, really it was the removal from the manilla folder that shocked/impressed everybody. It was impactful because people knew that size.
@kyle You may call me uncultured, but I think that looks great. On a side note... what an interesting hobby, a very tangible and creative one. Probably pairs really well with software development... I spend hours upon hours writing code or working on documents, but never really have anything too tangible to show for it. Maybe I'll take this as a sign that I need to get back to brewing beer. That way I'd at least have a hobby that others could enjoy as well.
@dos Oooh, this looks nice. I use the convergence mode almost daily, so this will be a huge boon.
@bnys That's one fine looking baby laptop!
@bradlinder I was super jazzed about the EOMA68 concept when it first came out. I even participated in two of their crowdfunding campaigns... Unfortunately both of those capaigns ended without backers getting any of the perks (i.e. no devices). With that in mind I'd be a bit hesitant about getting involved with this.
I do like the concept, but I do feel like the #MNT #reform has already acheived this goal. I suppose I will wish them luck though.
@MissBehave @JF I feel like I had it paired with the L5 at one point, but yeah I have had no luck getting it paired for the past couple of weeks. Here's to hoping it's an issue with BLE and will be resolved by the new WIFI/BT card.
@me Order placed... Also, this is great to know. Most definitely, the bluetooth capabilities of the #librem5 have been one of the more disappointing aspects of the phone. So it's great to know that there is an easy improvement. Also, it sounds like this other WIFI/BT card uses less energy when suspended, any improvement to battery life would be greatly appreciated.
@mntmn Another interesting smaller form factor option is Mini-STX: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mini-STX
There aren't too many cases or motherboards out there, but it is a standard and they do exist, and they would also make for some nice tiny computers. That said, I think that 1L desktops are quite a bit more common than mini-STX desktops.
@mntmn I don't think there is a spec per-se, I think it is more of a form factor (e.g., a mid-tower). That said, they are often referred to as 1L desktops as they occupy roughly that volume. This page might be a good inspiration for the dimensions of the board and enclosure though:

@mntmn I'm a big fan of the mini-business desktop form factor (see https://www.servethehome.com/hp-elitedesk-800-g4-mini-tinyminimicro-guide-review/ ). I own a few of them and the design is fantastic. They have a design like a miniature rackmount server (heatsink on cpu and separate blower fan), and from my experience they are super easy to work on. Also, the size is probably more than large enough for a 2.5" sata drive (if desired). Also, they stack nicely.
@tbernard @hellpe Seems to me that there should just be a category for Emulation. Because their use isn't even exclusively for gaming. Flathub also hosts Bottles (see, https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.usebottles.bottles) Which is a really nice way to somewhat sandbox and use Windows applications under Linux.
@martijnbraam Bet that will keep your head both comfy *and* warm.

@mntmn Beautiful!
@linmob I went top-of-the-line and ended up ordering the A-06 with the 4G modem.
From the youtube reviews I saw on the clockworkpi DevTerm (a different device) it sounds like they addressed nearly all complaints that people had with that earlier device in the uConsole (i.e. sturdier construction, backlit keyboard, and shorter keys). So all told, I'm really looking forward to it.
@linmob I tried so hard to talk myself out of ordering one of these... but failed. So anyhow, now I'm super excited for its delivery a few months from now.
Thanks for dropping this link!
