The dozens of posts and private messages that have come in since I posted my video (youtu.be/6xbtmgalaEQ) about serial gifter
@gwssrox have been heartbreaking to hear. 🧵

(Please boost this thread to spread awareness?)

@mntmn I think that there is still demand for platforms w/o blobs, however that aspect is one of many that factors in with the price/performance ratio of a product. Currently these platforms are a bit of a hard sell as they generally cost far more and have less performance.

For me, things not having blobs mattered because it was analogous to being well supported in Linux for extended periods. If I can get extended product support even w/blobs then this is okay at least for me.

@dominikasafko I love the colors you used here! Something about this palette just makes me feel optimistic about the future...

@darkcorners3 Hey this a longshot but, have you ever seen an old black and white horror film about a skeleton that started to regrow its flesh after having water dumped on it.

I saw part of that move probably 20 years ago but never got to see the end of it and never caught its name. I've always wanted to see it in its entirety but never stumbled across it again. If you happen to have an idea of what it was, I would love to know the name of it. Thanks in advance!

@JF @PINE64 Okay, I'm familiar with most all of their devices but what is that big green motherboard with the strange cutout? Is that something new/upcoming that I should be aware of?

@soller Ooh, if you guys made a big investment into build systems for this architecture, is it reasonable to suspect that System76 may have some new ARM64 devices in their pipeline? Or am I perhaps just reading into this too much...

@martijnbraam Some people like to hate on Linux mobile for not being as polished as Android or iOS, but wow has the UI ever come a long way.

@linuxphoneapps

[1] Tuba

[2] Yes, but mostly GTK

[3] No

[4] Mobile crypto wallet app support

[5] PureOS

[6] Q: Is there anything that prevents you from recommending LinuxMobile to your friends and family? If so, what is that top reason.

A: available native devices (It's a hard sell at the current price/performance ratio).

@zwarf I've also been exclusively using one for over a year now. It's not a perfect experience by any means, but the hardware and OS/driver support is infinitely better than the pinephone I was using immediately prior to receiving it.

I can't really recommend the device to anybody except the most tech savvy Linux users and even then it can be a hard sell as it is more work to maintain than the alternatives. That said, I love Linux on mobile and don't ever plan to go back.

@mntmn @gkrnours If you can make something that will fit in one of those 1L business desktop sized-cases, I think you could potentially sell those like hotcakes. I personally love that form factor as well.

So I stumbled across this video for fans recently about this board called the . It looks like it will basically be a but with AGA support. According to the video, there should be a bigger announcement in a couple of weeks.

@1Bit Hey I enjoyed your video, thanks for posting it. When you get a chance I'd love to see another video about your thoughts on the 256K as you've owned one for a time. I'd be interested to know what you like, what you don't like, what has improved since you got it and all that other stuff. Finally, maybe where you'd like to see it go as well.

Also, those Atari-style controller ports on it, do they work with Sega genesis controllers, or only with joysticks? Thanks in advance!

@dosnostalgic I've never heard of this before, but with those tiny sprites I'm wondering if this is perhaps a lemmings knock off...

@samf It's been over a year since you asked and maybe you don't care anymore, but just in case you do, there is an app nowadays called Tuba that's pretty great:

Hope this helps.

@amigalove Who knew that petscii art could be so hot!? Thanks for sharing.

I'm proud to announce that a Wesnoth has turned 20 years old! Starting with version 0.1 tagged on June 18th 2003, Wesnoth has grown with the help of hundreds of volunteers continually improving all aspects of the game. And while admittedly Wesnoth is no longer at the peak of its popularity, there are still many developers, translators, add-on authors, moderators, and players helping to keep Wesnoth going strong. Thank you everyone for all your work, and here's to another 20 years of Wesnoth!

@janbeta Should you happen to enjoy anime, there is a great coming of age story about a high school kid falling in love with jazz. If I recall correctly, Moanin' was featured in the first couple of episodes:
