At a job I had 4 years ago before leaving setup a server for automated backups and network shared folders. And documented everything about it, for whoever took maintenance of it. 4 years later they asked me help to solve a problem. I said: “that is described in the documentation I wrote 4 years ago.”
The reply was: “We had forgotten that documentation existed. It worked so well these last 4 years that we never read that doc and forgot it existed.”
Not sure if I should rant or rave.
Just released a new app!
📣 Audio Sharing is available on Flathub now!
https://flathub.org/apps/details/de.haeckerfelix.AudioSharing
It's a small tool which allows you to stream your current computer audio over the network as a RTSP stream.
We've been having a bit of a summer (well, autumn soon) pause for Karrot, especially as I (@nicksellen) have been on a bike tour 🚲 🏕️
BUT we have very exciting news! 📰
We're through to the next round of the nlnet funding thing we applied for 🤑 💰 💸
Will be bigger celebration if we get all the way, but nice to celebrate for now! 🎈 🍾
@rysiek @qbi @emacsomancer want to see who wrote and maintains OMI?
tmpdir=$(mktemp -d); git clone https://github.com/microsoft/omi.git "$tmpdir" && git -C "$tmpdir" shortlog -sne --all | awk '{domain=$NF; sub(/>$/,"",domain); sub(/^[^@]*@/,"",domain); sub(/\\.*/,"",domain); sub(/^</,"",domain); count[domain]+=$1}; END{for (domain in count) printf("%d\t%s\n", count[domain], domain)}' | sort -nk 1
"FLOSS in the supply chain is a risk" is corrosively disingenuous.

@twrightsman @eliasr at the moment kinda busy with other stuff
@twrightsman @eliasr I can also test Puremaps. Gonna take like a day or two to show something.
@nitrokey Hey NitroKey, as a #postmarketOS dev this honestly gets me a bit worried. I've seen several companies jumping on the "Linux on mobile" bandwagon without realizing what makes the PinePhone and Librem 5 so great: mainline Linux kernel support.
Please make sure that if you make a Linux-based phone, it'll either ship with mainline support or has at least work going to it to make that happen in the future!
@eliasr @staticvoidmaine @someunexpectedsparks GNOME maps at the moment requrires an Internet connection to work but I can try with puremaps next

And the blue dot moves!!! :D
#gps on a #librem5 showing my location in #gnome #maps in real time as I walk home.
And yes... I walked **slowly**, an did not walked straight, and the video quality is not the best. But hey it is a lot of progress :D
The space is a parking space close to home.
Credits go out to the several developers that worked on the different parts of the stack necessary for this to work.
Phorge is a community fork of the no-longer-maintained Phabricator.
I think all these ph-names are phucking silly. 😜
Lots of work on MMS support on chatty! Thanks to Kyle Evans (fuzzy7k), there is now inline support for single image attachments!
Take a look at the work here:
