We have the same rules. I just refuse to follow them. So far, nobody had said anything.

It is federated in itself, so you could set up a matrix server and talk to other matrix servers, but I don't think that it will connect to mastodon or anything like that.
The way librem uses it is they set up mastodon for librem social but they disabled dm's.
They use matrix for private communication so that it can be encrypted.

Just for the sake of 2020, I want to see Trump flip Arizona and Nevada and also win Alaska, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, while Biden flips Georgia. This would give us a 269-269 tie. What could be more 2020 than that?

Librem social disabled the federated timeline. Their philosophy is that you shouldn't have things forced on you that you didn't choose to follow.
