There is no subject he cannot make political.

I say, “Remember this fond memory?” He responds about then being a “sane” time.

I say, “All your grandkids want to see you.” He says, “Too many liberals.”

I say, “Thanks for xyz growing up.” He says, “Why don’t you like trump?”

I used to talk with my grandfather (~80) regularly, but after trump lost the popular election a second time, he has refused to say anything other than lamentations about the state of the world. He’s still big mad his grandkids voted for Biden. Any advice?

A new season of “Queer Eye” provided the happy new year tears that I needed. 💕

2021 wasn’t the year I wanted, but it was better than 2020, which was better than 2019. I hope 2022 continues this positive trend and we live as changed people with more gratitude for the basic things we have been deprived of during the pandemic.

Almost 2 years into the pandemic and I’m still having to unfollow smart people I once respected who suddenly come out as an antivaxxer. 🤯

The hard truth for Sverige is that we cannot vaccinate our way out of the pandemic.

We will have to wear medical masks and isolate more, something the government and many people here have not been willing to do.

3. Any notion of national herd immunity is wrong. The entire world will keep suffering until all countries have access to effective vaccines at the same time to inhibit new variants.

2. Any notion of herd immunity from "just getting it and getting over it like a bad flu" is wrong. Many people who got COVID-19 before being vaccinated are getting it again. Antibodies fade fast and we do not know what variants will develop in the future.

This means a few interesting things:

1. With 71% of all Swedish residents are fully vaccinated, the current vaccines are not effective at preventing infection of omicron. Yes, they reduce hospitalization, but that is not the primary measure of efficacy we use for other vaccines.

I did not enjoy “Dune” (2021) and would not recommend it.

“Don’t Look Up” was worth watching, but should have been 90 minutes instead of 2 hours 18 minutes.

I am hoping the pandemic will be over by March because I am looking forward to Eden, an “immersive dinner experience” of VR in a physical space with some fun performers.

I enjoyed Matrix Resurrections more than the second and third movies. 👍

I made some holiday videos and posted them to Instagram since there is no legal way to self-host videos the soundtrack.

God Jul!

Dammit. Mood Stockholm just took me out of . Good luck to all those who remain.

People: I miss how easy it was to ask people questions in the office.

Also people: I hate constantly being interrupted by shoulder taps from people asking me questions in an office.

Perhaps it’s not being in an office vs remote, but learning to collaborate asynchronously.
