There are so many bugs in the Fitbit app that were known when I worked there 5 years ago that still aren’t fixed. I wish I knew why.

Been trying to figure out whether I made the right call on staying home from the cruise this week. Felt so hard to get quantitative estimates of risk.

Turns out Vacaya just published stats for their gay cruise last week. 1568 passengers; nearly 2000 booked. All fully vaccinated, most boosted. Several hundred tested positive on arrival. 27 tested positive onboard and were isolated for duration of voyage. 72 more identified as close contacts, and isolated for 24 hours.

Dropbox Paper forgetting the document I viewing when it forces me to SSO in again is fucking annoying.

It even does something to the browser history state so the doc's URL is replaced by the sign in page and I can't just go back.

Exciting last week with the Google Analytics ruling by the Austrian DPA. Our traffic and trials up 50% and we didn't even publish any posts.

I get Apple's private relay feature for free since I already pay for iCloud storage, but it only works in Safari. How is this not anti-competitive towards other browsers on iOS?

Anyone else just have the urge to loudly whisper, “THIS IS GROUP THERAPY WITH ABOVE & BEYOND,” anytime a trance-y beat is being played in stores or elevators?

One of the most powerful mindshift techniques is changing “I have to” statements into “I get to.”

For example:
“I hate leg day.” → “I get to hate leg day.”

There are days when I just want to run away from management and be a frontend engineer again.

Blarfenghar. I noticed the speakers on my new Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch M1 Pro were cracking frequently at low volume.

Apparently lots of people are having the same problem.

I waited to buy gen 2 to avoid this shit.

How has “Gumby” not gotten a reboot already, NBC?

25 years ago, middle school me got off a bus to a driveway full of cars and I knew immediately cancer had finally taken my mother from me.

Anyway, vaccinate your kids against HPV, males too.

President Obama taught me to not get too excited by a speech. Biden doesn’t get a cookie until HR-1 and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act are passed.

I saw a Prop 65 warning on a food label. The explanation link affirmed my unexamined opinion the prop was as useless as a cookie warning.

I wondered if there were any repeal efforts. Turns out, it’s actually done a lot of good.

There is no subject he cannot make political.

I say, “Remember this fond memory?” He responds about then being a “sane” time.

I say, “All your grandkids want to see you.” He says, “Too many liberals.”

I say, “Thanks for xyz growing up.” He says, “Why don’t you like trump?”

I used to talk with my grandfather (~80) regularly, but after trump lost the popular election a second time, he has refused to say anything other than lamentations about the state of the world. He’s still big mad his grandkids voted for Biden. Any advice?
