@duhdugg

This is worse. #GitHub #Copilot copypastas code into new project with absolutely no attribution or licensing, and people testing it have proven that it copies entire snippets (multi-line) of code, regardless of license.

It was trained on ALL of GitHub, no matter what license the code was in.

So, it basically becomes a way to launder FOSS code into proprietary projects.

SO not ok.

I don’t know if this will help anyone, but:

A key thing I've learned about Mastodon: When you find people you know and want to keep up with, don't just follow them — add them to a list!

Merely following is not enough, b/c their posts may not show up in your feed at a time you're logged on. Unlike FB or Twitter, Mastodon has no algorithm to resurface your friends' posts from hours or days ago.

So create a list called "Friends" and check it when you're on. This will ensure that you see what they posted while you were away.

If you download your Twitter archive it arrives wrapped as a static HTML page, which is not very useful for doing anything with, and worse: it requires the original account to be still active to do useful things like enlarge the images since they use t.co links.

So here's a Python script to convert a Twitter archive to markdown or other formats: github.com/timhutton/twitter-a

Now you can archive your tweets in any way you want.

📈 Donations through Liberapay have jumped up a bit this week, as hundreds of you have started financially supporting the Mastodon and other Fediverse instances you have accounts on. As a result, we've reached new all-time highs: the number of accounts actively giving or receiving money through Liberapay has crossed the 10k threshold, and the weekly sum of active donations has risen above €15k.

Your Mastodon feed won't improve through passive engagement. There is no algorithm to suggest and share what you liked.

You must actively follow different people to see what they boost, and you must boost for other people to see. Some people are from different servers. You will see more of what they see organically. You can also hashtag to increase visibility.

There is no quote retweet either. You have to actively engage and comment in the thread.

Here's a list of Mastodon profiles that I follow. You can import this CSV file into your account and then view the list feed yourself:

an interesting aspect of LS1028A is that unlike the i.MX8 family, it does not need binary firmware to initialize DDR4. you only need firmware if you want to use eDP. it has plenty of PCIe address space, so you could couple it with a simple 2D GPU to achieve a blob free system.

Like Facebook, it turns out @Twitter has also used users' phone numbers provided for security reasons for advertising purposes.

Another example of why companies should not rely on SMS for 2-factor authentication, but instead use apps like @Authy. help.twitter.com/en/informatio

@mike thanks for a nice manual.
Replacing Pi with @olimex's #Lime and using #Mycroft it would be rather nice #DIY open source hardware and software #smartspeaker.

3D print a custom case for it and it might not even look to be DIY anymore.

I was working on #3dprinted #enclosure for @olimex #Lime2

The SATA port does not fit as neatly as it could and the board is actually attached to the box with just one screw, but it works. 🙂

If anyone would like to print their own box or even better improve it, move the holes for ports and screws by a few milliliters, so they will fit more tightly, let me know and I will upload the #STL and #OpenSCAD files on GitLab, FramaGit or somewhere. :openhardware:

Vanilla @debian is installed/running on my @olimex@fosstodon.org TERES-I laptop via debian-installer. If you experience a black screen upon bootup, there is a workaround: remove the installation media at the debian-installer boot select menu. What does this mean? You can easily create your own installer media (a ~90MB image) to install the operating system the way it was designed to be installed. You don't need a custom image sourced from a vendor.

I've just stumbled across this channel but I really like the way the presenter explains features and technical pros/cons of various & boards. For example, here is a recent unboxing and review of the @olimex@fosstodon.org OSHW-certified ESP32-POE-ISO board: youtube.com/watch?v=O3-UaSKSFu
