You don't need an app to use Pixelfed! All of Pixelfed's features are available entirely through your server's website, which you can use on your computer, phone or tablet. In fact the website tends to have more features than the apps!

You can also optionally install the website as a web app on your phone or tablet, which makes it behave like an app (including full screen mode and notifications) but have all the features of the website. Another bizzare comment on #GitLab

For some reason I get random garbage from primary school kids on either GitLab or email (or in this case both).

Why would an 8 year old from Kampen, NL put random stuff on GitLab "i m dutch end you and i m 8 end you!" or email (picture of cucumber)?

Any other #opensource people getting this random stuff?

Pixelfed is a lot of things, but one thing it is not, is an opportunity for VC or others to ruin the vibe.

I've turned down VC funding and will not inject advertising of any form into the project.

I may offer monetization in the form of official hosting, or subscriptions for a badge or something, but those will not influence or otherwise have an advantage over 3rd party clients or the like.

Pixelfed is for the people, period.
