@hehemrin I’m running #LinuxMint on both my 2013 MacBook Pro and my 2014 #MacBook Air. I’ll be dual-booting macOS and #Linux on my 2014 27” #iMac as soon as I get a new SSD.
Pro Tip: before erasing #macOS, #calibrate your display with the advanced settings turned on and save the .icc file to apply to your Linux installation so you get accurate colors.
Pro Tip 2: Be aware that first-gen 27” 5k Retina iMacs will only support 4K resolution in Linux
@RockyC Thanks! And it is encouraging. So far I only have Linux on Lenovo ThinkPad and IdeaPad. But I have noticed there are older iMac on second hand market at relatively low prices (also macbooks, but they tend to be in a less good state). Thanks for the pro tips!
@hehemrin The problem with older Macs is the proprietary SSDs they started using in 2010. You just can’t pop in an M.2. Here’s a guide to all of the Apple proprietary SSDs:

@RockyC Thanks again. I'll save that article. Mmm Apple makes good products but they are the opposite to standards and open source. Wonder what founder Woz thinks about it, I mean he was indeed a tinker.
