@RockyC Thanks again. I'll save that article. Mmm Apple makes good products but they are the opposite to standards and open source. Wonder what founder Woz thinks about it, I mean he was indeed a tinker.
@hehemrin I used to be a staunch Apple supporter until they started soldering all the RAM and storage to the motherboards. All Macs except the Studio and the new Pro are now appliances - it’s impossible to upgrade or repair any of them, and I refuse to purchase any computer that I can’t fix myself.

I agree. My first Apple computer was and still in use is macmini 2014. I was tired of issues with Win Vista and possibly hw. Macmini works well but now I'm tired of the walled garden so walking to Linux. So I doubt a new Apple again, but an older with Linux is somewhat tempting.
@hehemrin The problem with older Macs is the proprietary SSDs they started using in 2010. You just can’t pop in an M.2. Here’s a guide to all of the Apple proprietary SSDs:
