Ahh, I think I get it now, thanks to @tinker's explanation: https://infosec.exchange/@tinker/109308661556548339
Wow, which writing of hers is that Purgatory quote from? It caught me off guard, I think maybe I need more. 🙏
@nova also, it is very difficult to interfere for state actors. It is very easy for a government to block twitter, but it is very difficult to block ALL mastodon instances. That combined with different laws and regulations depending on location, and combined with better user exerience because everyone can choose a instance depending on their priorities, a better and much more open network is the result. Thats why I started my own instance. To fill in a niche, and to protect the network

I haven't seen Into the Woods, but my wife always quotes a great line from it: "You're not good, you're just nice."
I think the prevous generation of liberals focused mostly on being Nice and this generation is focused on being Good. They're often incompatible.
The lesson to take from the big layoffs at Twitter and Facebook is this: "The job will never love you back." No matter how much effort you put in, no matter how clever you are, no matter how long you've committed yourself to $COMPANY, when push comes to shove, you're just a replaceable part in the machine.
Keep your weekends and your evenings. Leave your bugs at work. Your time is for you, and your boss won't send you flowers.
For my part, I've always seen them as something at the discretion of the author. As the reader, you have a plethora of tools to disengage from unwanted content on Mastodon—with even better filters coming in 4.0—and harassment is not one of them. People who are arriving now have as much right to be here and bring their own culture as the ones who came before them.
The #Ohio Valley was a deciduous #rainforest 500 years ago. Today's weather makes it seem less distant.
How can you go to concerts when you’re autistic?”
- music is my special interest and has been a way to express myself
- i am not only a sensory avoider, but also a sensory seeker
- i use loud music as a way to drown out other sensory input
- singing and dancing are a way of stimming for me
- screaming certain lyrics at the top of my lungs at concerts give me an opportunity to feel and express feelings that i’m otherwise not able to identify

Nice, thank you, I'm going to give it a go this weekend.
@patricia Weird, I can see replies to this post in a web browser, but not via #LibremSocial (my Mastodon client/network).
@kyle spy underwear 🤢🤮
Have you heard about Silicon Valley’s unpaid research and development department? It’s called the EU.
Who should you thank for Facebook’s Libra?
• “One of the UK’s leading privacy researchers”
• University College London
• The DECODE project
And, if you’re an EU citizen who pays their taxes,
• You.
Surprised? Don’t be.
