Should you have more than one Fediverse account?

To me, that's an obvious yes.

People have separate accounts for Reddit, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter.

So it only makes sense that you have separate accounts for Lemmy, Pixelfed, Peertube, and Mastodon.

All those apps do separate and distinct things.

A lot of folks have migrated to the Fediverse reluctantly and just want to replace Twitter.

I get that.

But as you use Mastodon, you're going to start thinking, "I wish this app had a certain feature..."

Then you'll discover another app on the Fediverse has that feature, and you'll want to try it out.

For instance, I run an instance with Emoji reactions, "quoted retweets", and threaded comments.

Mastodon can't do that. But if you *really* want that, it's available elsewhere.

The other funny thing is that *when* you use other Fediverse apps, this whole Fediverse thing starts to make a lot more sense.

And the lightbulb will go off over your head: this isn't just about replacing Twitter—this is about a whole new ecosystem to organize your online life.

Frankly, that's exciting because it's the next big frontier for Internet development.

@atomicpoet I'm just now understanding how Bookwyrm could fit into my fediverse, and it's a bit of a revelation. #reading #writing joinbookwyrm.com/
