One thing that bothered me since some time is that for switching between different 🎶 players required to🔓 the 📱 .

So e.g. pausing #gnome podcasts to listen to music via #gapless needed ever so many steps. I've thus added a lockscreen plugin to #phosh that tracks all currently running media players that use #mpris and allows to interact with them.

This is all pretty rough still but I can hopefully brush it up for 0.48 (gitlab.gnome.org/World/Phosh/p).

We just moved to this new instance (and @linuxphoneapps will follow with moving to @linuxphoneapps later today). Let's hope it will serve us as a solid new home for a long, long time! :-)

> With things like that happening, are you at the same time still having trouble getting funding?

Yup, unfortunately - worse than ever. Folks are happy to pay for new features, but not for maintaining them, or maintaining/improving what’s already there. And much like getting a puppy, the vast majority of the cost is the upkeep.

> I imagine the EU has a decent budget for cybersecurity stuff

We’re continuing to try to locate it.

Interesting article about @purism in #Fortune:

"Its Liberty Phone,... comes with U.S.-made electronics installed on a metal chassis from China. It retails for $1,999. Another phone, the Librem 5, is mostly the same design, except it’s made in China with Chinese parts, and costs $799."

"The Liberty Phone is its biggest seller."

I have been using a #Librem5 as my daily phone for three years now. I like it because the #freedom for the user: #FOSS.

Passed this political demonstration in support of Palestine on my way home from work today. They were marching down along Kungsgatan and past Stureplan in Stockholm, shouting "ni har blod på era händer" ("you have blood on your hands"), protesting against the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

What I hate the most about the leftist side of the fedi, especially the EU types is the extreme anti-American sentiment, and I'm not talking about hatred for America as a country or the American government. I'm talking about hatred for American people in general.

They just assume that just because we live here that we support all American policy. They think that we automatically support the Israeli invasion of Gaza (despite the fact that even most US republicans are less supportive of Israel) or whatever human-rights violation the US government is participating. Or if you are not indigenous, then they shit on you just for being born on stolen land.

>Oh but you voted these people in that means you are all for it

It should be obvious that voting doesn't work here anymore (or maybe it never did). And even if it did, that doesn't mean that we support everything the government does.

You can hate on America all you want, but please don't hate on the people.

the difference is that people find all kinds of excuses if it's android or whatever made by the big players. if an os is made by someone different it suddenly has to be perfect or is "not ready".

example: the youtube app on android frequently gets into a state where one just can't use the search button anymore. it's there but nothing happens. one has to restart the app.

it's digital stockholm syndrome.

if not t least half of the major services were shit data silos using something like sailfish os (i know, it's not perfectly free) would be no problem. everything native works and has better UI/UX than android. it's the web of shit and hardware manufacturers that make things hard.

There are devices having these issues but there are others that don't so I'd rather not throw everything into one bucket.

I find it more straight forward to talk about limitations than telling people that something isn't "for them yet" as that leaves people in jeopardy for longer and might just underestimate their abilities.

If people don't know something exists they can't even try it.
