I recently tried walking to my workplace in the morning, takes about an hour and a half, it felt really good. As you say, gives time to think about something.

As I understand it there are three kinds of programming languages:

(1) Compiled languages, for which you first need to compile and then you can run the program.

(2) Scripting languages, for which you can run the program directly without needing to compile it first.

(3) Java, where you must compile but then after that you still cannot run the program.

@leighelse I think this illustrates the fact that certain companies (in this case Apple) have become far too big so that "market forces" or whatever you call it no longer work to the benefit of users/consumers.

Normally you expect a company to try to make good products, to attract customers. But these companies don't do that, because they are so big, they just own all the customers and profit from them like a rancher profits from cattle. Capitalism is failing.

It's a good principle that can be applied in other ways also, for example:

- Children should be as far away as possible from the big tech domain.

- Anything important or valuable should be as far away as possible from the big tech domain.

I suspect that "X should be as far away as possible from the big tech domain" holds true for pretty much any X. 😄

@neil I think that definition misses something important.

I think the main thing that people in practice mean with or infer from the term "AI" is that it's a system that does something more or less clever and we, humans, do not understand how the system does it. If we can look inside and say "look, here is how it works, this is precisely why it gives this particular result" then it no longer gets to be called "AI". If we can understand it, then it's just another machine, not "AI".
