Please stop the proposal on mass surveillance of the EU, the proposal called "chat control 2".
It is a really, really, very, very, bad idea.

I don't know much about this stuff but when you mention that you don't run modified kernels, I think there may be a misunderstanding here about what the "Secure boot" thing is doing. As I understand it, it's about firmware. The kernel is not firmware, so "Secure boot" will not care about which kernel you use.
From a FOSS perspective, the big problem is if the firmware is proprietary, which is very often the case. We should have FOSS firmware that we can control.
@z3ntu Oh, that great to hear. So much good stuff! I really have to try to get there in person next year 🙂
About your talk, if you were to guess if/when mainline support for Fairphone 4 will be good enough to run for example Mobian, do you think that will happen? If so, how long in the future?
@z3ntu Thanks, interesting stuff!
Do you know if recordings from all the other talks talks are to be published as well, or is it only some of them?
@libredirect Hej hej!
Also: does the sim card need a pin code before it can work, and if so, do you have a method to enter the pin code? It can be done via mmcli I think.
My understanding of how these things work is that the modem should exist as a device in the Linux kernel, then ModemManager talks to that, and finally NetworkManager can handle that network connection for you. So both mmcli and nmcli can be of interest. ModemManager has a debug mode you can try.
Anyway, good luck with it 🙂

@alexbenisch hi, not sure if I'll be able to help, don't know anything about that particular modem, but one thing to check would be to run mmcli (ModemManager) to see what that says.
Make sure ModemManager is running and sees the modem, and the modem should be in the "connected" state. Probably it is not "connected" in your case.
You also have a SIM card plugged in somehow? Maybe check that the sim card is okay by putting it in some other phone or so, to test that separately?

just throw in a \vspace{-15mm} 🙂

Heh, "Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man". That one is funny, and may have been true at the time. Hardly true anymore though, I think it's safe to say that humanity has come up with significantly more perverted systems lately. 🙂
The European Commission is currently in the process of enacting a law called Chat control. If the law goes into effect, it will mean that all EU citizens’ communications will be monitored and listened to.

@shacker I heard that the pillar in there, the "soundpost", is in some languages called something more poetic: it is "the soul" of the instrument. 🙂
@fsf Great!
I think focusing on the case for #freesoftware in #education is a wise choice, both because of its huge importance and because the arguments are so very clear. Anyone who thinks about the issue will agree that #foss is the way to go in schools. Only ignorance stands in the way.
