@mntmn Great! Approaching my order soon? (ordered Oct 2020)

You say "#Apple stop spying on us!"
I say "People, stop buying apple hardware and software!"

> is IPv6 here yet?

Sadly, no.

But if you give it a try and report problems to those places where things don't work, you would be doing a good thing. Those of us who still run servers that can only be accessed using IPv4 should fix that.

Jag upptäckte det själv alldeles nyligen, det verkar vara en jättebra förening tycker jag. Fler medlemmar behövs! 🙂

In Swedish, E-identification, FOSS

@mntmn If I place a new order now, how soon would that ship?

@jrballesteros05 I have worked with some NAT (network address translation) solutions that are needed because of the lack of IPV4 addresses. I can tell you that it is a terrible mess, the proper solution would be to move to a system with enough addresses available, such as IPV6.

I think that brokep may have a point: the current situation benefits those who own lots of IPV4 addresses, it is not in their interest to change this.

For the public good, moving more to IPV6 would be a good thing.

This is interesting, about and and so on:

"The threat of an unregulated alternative monetary system emerging from blockchain technology is a clear and present danger to the Communist party, according to observers."

"Jim Cramer, a former hedge fund manager and CNN business expert, said the government in Beijing “believe it’s a direct threat to the regime because … it is outside their control”."

@lionirdeadman@fosstodon.org The point is that for those who regret signing it after they thought it through (lots of people I would think) it's still possible to have their names removed.

For example, you could remove your signature. Why not do the right thing?

Fewer names on that list means better chances of having a healthy conversation about free software and the FSF going forward.

Did you read this? people.gnome.org/~michael/blog

The number of signatures on the anti- open letter on github is down from 3009 to 3004.

@civodul

After your last quote, Kuhn continues like this:

"That said, if I have to chose between the strict dichotomy of: (a) copyrights held by the FSF (which has the possibility of recovery in the future and restoration to an organization that actively enforces the GPL) vs. (b) copyrights held by companies — many of whom are known to oppose enforcement of the GPL, I would still pick the FSF."

The main point, I guess, is that the FSF works for the public good, while those companies do not.

@fsfe

Thanks for answering!

That sounds great, I look forward to that upcoming campaign. The choice of operating system is a very important software freedom issue.

@purism

@fsfe On the topic of Free Software alternatives for smartphones, note also the by @purism and the with operating systems like , , and others that take a more radical approach. Instead of just "freeing your android", they choose skip android alltogether and instead build something that is built to be free from the ground up. Does the support such efforts as well?
