Yes, that's true - I didn't consider replacing the disabled apps with something conflicting. That _could_ however potentially be added to the disabling function.

@rene_mobile Disabling also differs from uninstallation on Android because disabling blocks any other app from claiming the Application ID. And the Application ID is often used as part of an API. For example, if YouTube's Mobile Live Intent:

That means disabling is blocking exactly these kinds of things that YouTube competitors want to do.

#Google's competition lawyers claim that uninstalling is the same as "disabling" even though Android itself says they are not the same:
"If you disable this app, Android and other apps may no longer function as intended. Keep in mind, you can't delete this app since it came pre-installed on your device. By disabling, you turn this app off and hide it on your device."
There is no such warning when uninstalling:
"Do you want to uninstall this app?"

Android published new APIs that seem to confirm that your phone will phone home when you install apps. It will refuse installation when you are offline or developer got blocked by Google:

@EUCommission This should also hopefully reduce car and truck traffic through the Brenner Pass. Currently there is a terrible, noisy highway through an otherwise very peaceful and natural valley.
Android Developer Verification means any developer or organization that wants to publish a mobile app now has to comply with either #Apple's or #Google's Terms of Service. That means two US companies now have a say in the apps that our governments make for their citizens, around the world.

@rysiek Good advice about privacy, but tying it to the murder of Charlie Kirk is a bit off IMHO. I'm no fan of Charlie Kirk, but I'm even more opposed to murder. And even more so murdering people for speaking their opinions. On top of that, Charlie Kirk's murder probably will strengthen his allies, not weaken them.
