@badrihippo @tripplehelix @jacobscharmberg Also, your operator probably disabled EDGE long time ago as it used more spectrum than pure GPRS at low efficiency (and spectrum is precious for newer access techs), but left GPRS for compatibility with many 2G M2M modules out there.

@badrihippo @tripplehelix @jacobscharmberg Pure 2G data is circuit-switched and even my old 2G-only Nokia 3410 could access the Internet. GPRS introduced packed switching on top of 2G, hence 2.5G. Then you got EDGE as 2.75G, UMTS as 3G, HSPA/HSPA+ as 3.5/3.75G. It gets messy at LTE upwards which didn't technically count as 4G as deployed but was marketed as such anyway.

@wolfpld It sounds silly, but it makes sense. I used it in a stop motion game where frame deltas are usually rather high and liked it. Self-contained animations in a well-known file format with simple decoding API, ability to tweak compression strength per frame (including mixed lossy and lossless frames), disposal, blending and alpha channel... If what you want is a short video, you can just use short videos instead.

@qcoolka Nie orientuję się w tych dzisiejszych, ale gdy się tym bawiłem jakąś dekadę temu to bez jailbreaka nie połączyłbym się z eduroamem na uczelni, nie mógłbym rysować, używać komunikatora czy klienta ssh i nie miałbym losowego kucyka na tapecie przy każdym otwarciu pokrowca 😂

There's no backfill so only new posts are bridged, and they have to be public (currently applies to replies as well, but unlisted replies to public posts may start being bridged too in the future).
