There's a trailer for a new #ToyStory movie out now and at one point it depicts a tablet displaying macOSey looking terminal windows with zsh as a shell being filled with Python code.
This means two things:
- we live in a timeline where fictional children toys from movies offer a more productive environment that the majority of real world's grown-up tablets
- if they don't reference #Debian one way or another in the movie I'll lose any remaining respect towards #Pixar 😜
@neil @LeelaTorres For banking apps it depends on a particular bank. I can use mBank PL app for authorization and mobile BLIK payments on a Librem 5 in Waydroid with no troubles.
Call me a Time Lord, cause lately whenever I dig into something in the kernel I end up fixing clocks being all over the place 🕐 🕜 🕢 🕖 #librem5 #linux #mobilelinux
@devrtz Yeah, hollywood does that. I quickly noticed that setting it as a Plasma wallpaper is not a good idea 😂
@craftyguy Our downstream commits mainly deal with USB-C, DisplayPort, Redpine card and rear camera.
USB-C stuff, especially the way three involved drivers communicate with each other, will have to be reworked for upstreaming.
DisplayPort was in the process of being upstreamed by NXP, though it seems like the progress on it has stalled: https://lore.kernel.org/all/cover.1734340233.git.Sandor.yu@nxp.com/
Redpine stuff is probably hopeless...
Rear camera should now be close to being upstreamable given some cleanup.
@craftyguy Depends on your definition of "run".
Something that can technically be used as a phone only needs a couple of patches for the internal display (see the ones that are applied directly on the upstream tag rather than merged in later),
However, the workaround for cpuidle on i.MX8M has been rejected upstream, so "not being a portable heater" will always stay a downstream feature.
@janvlug It boots, but booting is just the beginning:)
@domo If you're running it remotely you have to point it to Wayland display you want it to operate on - what it tells you is that it tried to use X11 platform as a fallback and couldn't. Use `WAYLAND_DISPLAY=wayland-0` or even just `-platform wayland` parameter, as it will default to wayland-0 anyway.
@domo That's not a "Wayland question", that's "<your DE> question".
On Plasma, there's `kscreen-doctor`.
On Phosh, Sway, Wayfire and some others, there's `wlr-randr`.
On GNOME I don't think there's a tool supplied, but there's at least Mutter's DBus API that can be utilized: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/blob/main/data/dbus-interfaces/org.gnome.Mutter.DisplayConfig.xml
@pecet no różne są, aspartam, stewiozydy, sukraloza, acesulfam K, cukrole,... każdy zostawia po sobie obrzydliwy posmak.
@pecet skoro tak, to niech w końcu wymyślą słodki słodzik 😫
@pecet bez cukru bez sensu
Debian thanks all the contributors building and nurturing the FOSS ecosystem and wishes everyone a very happy "I Love Free Software Day" https://fsfe.org/activities/ilovefs/ #debian #ilovefs #02
@dantalion 7.0 will also have at least a dozen of patches from our fork upstreamed. Still a few more to go though:)
CSS Clicker by @rebane2001 is probably the most impressive thing I've seen done with CSS ever. Check it out https://lyra.horse/css-clicker/
@badrihippo I use wf-recorder.
@okennedy Incompatibility between Mesa versions inside and outside the sandbox.
