This week I have written a LOT of Python. I have not written any tests. This is not something I’d ever do in Rust, and after today there’s no way I’ll do it in Python again. Quite a lot of time wasted fixing bugs as they popped up at runtime. Not a fan. Will change my ways.

@Gina the presence of, and responsibility for, another’s tiny human can in fact be the most effective form of birth control. Of course it can also change one from Team #nope to Team #neeeeeed.

I’ve pretty much continuously been surrounded by children for whom I was somewhat responsible since about 1989. They’re all still alive. You’ll be fine.

Bumped dependencies on my various Rust crates today. Still need to automate that process! Perhaps next week.

@kyle as a relative newcomer to (professionally) working in this space almost all of what I do is ultimately security focused. For the systems under my direct responsibility stability and scale are solved problems. Restarting happens when there’s a CVE patch to apply, and that’s pretty much it!

@kyle yeah the numpad is way less important than the rest. It’s not even a feature I’d use just like things to work. Maybe I’ll take a look and see if I can patch it myself.

Done upgraded PureBoot and my EC firmware on my Librem 14 today. Audio jack works for output now. Headset mic not detected still. Fn + any non F-key does nothing so the insert key isn’t possible.
