A tip for those who haven't seen this yet. #Mastodon has its own "#verification" system. Adding a link to your Mastodon profile from your website using the rel="me" attribute will #verify that the owner of both the site and profile are the same, and you get this nifty green highlight to show it.
@katherined This is amazing I had no idea about this feature. I always thought it was a huge gap compared to centralized systems but that is pretty neat way to do verification.
@mpanhans Yeah, I agree. It just makes sense. Now, not everyone has a site to link, but I think most people who would want to verify their association with any given thing would have a corresponding site.
@katherined And it doesn't even cost $8 bucks a month to do.
@tchambers Right? Mind blown. 😂
@katherined that's good to know, thx. But this only works with pages one can fully control content-wise. Would be cool to have a text based option to include web2 platforms such as LinkedIn profiles for example.
@tobe that would be cool. Let’s hope someone works on that and can get that merged. Also, yay #opensource
@katherined excellent. Thanks.
@katherined wow! This is interesting!
Also, thanks @kyle for that info. I believe I learned it here: https://www.reality2cast.com/109
