word of the day #3: Awestruck

To be awestruck is to be utterly amazed (as in, in awe of) something or someone.

@unfa they're probably both from a Latin word. Either way, yeah, the best amigos are amicable :)

@lunduke I'm on board! This is an excellent time for such a "detox", as I'm sure a lot of us are still moving toward open social platforms like mastodon, which is a great time to set a tone for our presences. Still going to try across all platforms, though!

word of the day number 2: amicable. An amicable person is friendly, peaceable, and good natured.

To kick off , I thought I'd do a daily word that has a positive social meaning. Today's word is: companionable. It means friendly and sociable. Nice and simple, someone who's easy to get along with.

Well, September 20th has just about passed at Area 51, and we still don't have pet aliens or hand sanitizer that kills 100% of bacteria. I'm gonna say we took an L on this one, bois, but it was worth it for the memes

@kyle high and (relatively) dry where I am, thankfully, a little outside of Houston

It's gonna be a weird day.

I can feel it.

The Earth deserves better than humanity

I need someone I can talk to and have random discussions about silly things at odd times. Like how weird it is that the word palindrome isn't a palindrome, when I'd think it should be. Or how onomatopoeia isn't an example of onomatopoeia. Or how you drive on a parkway and park on a driveway. The English language is pretty funny if you think about it

One day.
Any day?
Today.
Some day,
Sunday.
Friday

Why is it that the best minds in our industry seem unable to improve security without creating products that coincidentally give their employer more control over people and their data? Vendor lock-in is preventing real innovation in infosec.

Look what arrived! Excited to read this book. While today fascism and the far right is the existential threat that justifies any means to eradicate, it wasn't always this way. 18 yrs ago today it was radical (and non-radical) Islam and in the 1950s it was communism and the far left. This book documents CIA studies into mind control to counter the communist threat that resulted in torture of US citizens, death, and countless other atrocities.

Check out my new pocket computer! Ok not exactly new, it's a Tasco Pocket Arithometer from the '40s.

Life, at times, is almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea

I think instead of having a "smart home," I'm going to get a "dumb home" where the only things connected to the internet are my laptop and phone
