@d @chjara @terryenglish deregulation tends to be done with the goal with offload assets to the political elites’ buddies in most countries and even in the developed world like with the electricity market it can end up doing more harm than good and that’s why most people have a negative reaction to the term deregulation which is why when anyone talks about deregulation it’s important to ask for further details

@terryenglish @chjara @d that’s why just changing policies alone is no and you need a complete overhaul of the governance system to mute the impact of wealth on elections and provide an environment in which multiple actors can compete to form the government or just be lucky and have a benevolent dictator

@terryenglish @d @chjara it depends on what the government doing deregulation is aiming for is it removing environmental regulation because big oil is lobbying for it or is it removing unfair advantages granted to state owned enterprises. I don’t think any sensible person would say that there’s no corruption in market systems but if you look at countries with freer economies they have citizens with much better living conditions.The UN is a really terrible organisation reforming it to be functional would take god knows how long and it would take probably centuries for it to gain all the trust it has lost to people who think we need it never mind the people who aren’t sympathetic to organisations like it.

Final ant update (I hope): the ant is gone! It must have found a way out of the monitor over the weekend.

Ant Update 2: Some time overnight, the ant moved again and is facing up toward 12 o'clock. It must still be alive.

Update: the ant (somehow?!) seems to have moved a bit...

Bug report: I went to brush this ant off of my monitor and discovered it was *inside* the screen. It is now permanently in my field of view unless I take my monitor apart.
