Also I don't even think DDoSing from TOR is a viable option at all considering how the TOR network works. DDoS attacks works by using networks of infected computers (botnets) sending lots of petitions per second at a specific service to render it unusable. That's done through the clearnet.

So the "we block TOR to protect our service" is a complete, blatant lie.

Sorry but @jack@twitter.com is a grifter. He understands the value of decentralization but he turns that interest into money for himself. The big hope for crypto is that it can disintermediate payments. Social media promises the same for communication. No middlemen but himself and promises.

Arrangements to make people pay for using a program, including licensing of copies, always incur a tremendous cost to society through the cumbersome mechanisms necessary to figure out how much (that is, which programs) a person must pay for. And only a police state can force everyone to obey them.
