#Linux and #FOSS are truly amazing. It just goes to show the power of a dedicated and passionate community. However, everything has its issues and we tend to lose sight of that in our propaganda. The #blockchain is an impressive new technology that was created to support the functioning of cryptocurrencies. It is simply a large, public and distributed 'database' that uses cryptography. It is this feature of a blockchain that makes cryptocurrency 'secure by design'. Most of us in the #FOSS world are already taking steps to secure our digital life. Perhaps, we should take an effort to protect our financial activities as well and #cryptocurrency may be our shot at this.
'Big Tech' is ruling over our lives so, when an alternative to YouTube called 'LBRY' arrived, some of us hopped on the band wagon to see where it leads. It has been here for some time now and it still seems to be struggling to deliver the kind of content one would expect from YouTube, Vimeo and other proprietary services. The future of LBRY seems to be bleak. Will LBRY succeed? 🤔 #LBRY #FOSS

In the wake of digital privacy becoming more important to users, organisations are forced to rethink their business models that are primarily based on surveillance capitalism. The issue for many organisations is that they are accountable to their shareholders first, which leads to a conflict of interest. What can be done about this? We must use tools from organisations that put the users' needs first, like NPOs and SPCs. Hopefully, more companies will be inpired to follow them. 😁 #privacy

The poll has ended and the results are in. While Firefox was what everyone voted for, there is hardly enough votes (only 11 votes) to make viable conclusions. First of all, Telegram does provide a transparency report (https://t.me/transparency) and it is mostly open source. I would also like to mention that Wickr has only only released the source code for its cryptographic protocol as far as I know. I would also like to recommend LBRY as another alternative to Youtube. I am a huge fan of your work and I hope it keeps improving! 😁
