Ditching the Google Play Store is not as difficult as you think. Did you know that there are more ways to get many popular apps on your phone besides via the Play Store? Here are some examples:

signal.org/android/apk/
whatsapp.com/android/

You can also get apps like Tutanota, Bitwarden, Telegram and the entire Librem One suite through F-droid (an alternative app store). Try it out: f-droid.org/.

@purism Hey, guys! I really enjoy your articles and I completely advocate what you are doing there. However, I have noticed that you keep repeating and reusing the same material over and over again. (Eg: This article was published on May.) If you want to encourage users to use Librem Social more, I would advise that you take a more active role in this as opposed to Twitter or Facebook. Interact with the community that you have helped create here. 😁

@Tutanota The new one looks much more polished whereas the old one looked kind of dull. I hope you will make a dark theme that is more fitting for your overall colour scheme, though. (Preferrably with a dash of red.) Overall, this is a major improvement over the last one. Keep up the good work! πŸ‘ πŸ‘

@mbtsmn@mastodon.social @protonvpn πŸ˜‚ Why didn't I think of that?

The is slowly making its way to becoming one of the best privacy-friendly alternatives to the current smartphone duopoly! However, if you can't stay without apps like and , just get on a compatible phone.

@molson @purism Why would you prefer plastic cases? Aren't aluminium ones more durable?

@cyprian@mastodon.social @Tutanota I've heard of those too. It is quite alarming but the important thing is we are now aware of it and have a choice.

@mbtsmn@mastodon.social @protonvpn Well done, Marcel! You guessed it right. How did you know? πŸ˜ƒ πŸ‘

@e_mydata I am looking forward to this! Although, I am slightly concerned about how you allow the installation of commercial apps that are not on @fdroidorg@mastodon.technology through your 'application installer'. πŸ€”

@e_mydata @thenextweb At this rate, the damage done to its brand image will be irreparable. It is possible that people will most likely move away from Facebook as a platform. However, the same can't be said for the rest of Facebook's ecosystem. (Eg: Instagram and WhatsApp.)

@Tutanota @kezzbracey @fdroidorg@mastodon.technology @fedilab Don't forget . They now provide a seperate APK here: signal.org/android/apk/.

@Tutanota Thanks for informing me! I have never heard of this service before. I will make sure that I avoid it and I encourage everyone else to do the same. Kudos to for putting what really matters first! 😁 πŸ‘ πŸ‘

@dishant990 Hey! Thanks for following me! Librem Chat and Librem Social are free to use. However, you will have to pay if you want to use Librem Tunnel, Librem Mail and any upcoming services under the Librem One suite. 😁 librem.one/

@Tutanota This is a great article! It goes to show that many of us do care about our . Thanks, ! 😁

#FeatureOfTheWeek: We're currently working on calendar reminders for the desktop client. ✊ Check here why the desktop clients are the most secure way to access Tutanota: tutanota.com/blog/posts/deskto

@lunduke What is your ailment? Tell us when you get better. I wish you a speedy recovery! πŸ‘

@Tutanota Cool, bros! 😎 At this rate, you'll be the reigning champion of encrypted email service providers and even email service providers in general. Keep it up! 😁 πŸ‘ πŸ‘

@Tutanota While privacy-focused apps should be open source, being open source itself does not ensure its privacy or security. There are more factors that can affect an application's security besides just being open source.
