@ericbuijs @samkupar I agree with your opinion. Yet, the issue is it is the only alternative to WhatsApp which is on par with it in terms of features. It is also arguably more secure than WhatsApp due to its more privacy-friendly policies, clear definition of what goes into the cloud and its mostly open source code. This makes it much easier to recommend.
@omgubuntu It's good to see more and more software support flatpaks and snaps. It makes it easier for both newer and advanced users alike. ๐
@omgubuntu Nice! This is exactly what we need. Linux is not just for the technically inclined and someone needs to shows that. Great job, @slimbook ! ๐ ๐
@JoshStrobl It's a little 'too crumply' for my tastes. What happened to the good old days of brick-like phones that could survive a bashing and hardy vehicles that could survive tough terrain? ๐ ๐ I get what you are saying, though. Let's hope that fixing things after launching a product doesn't become the norm in the future!
@JoshStrobl Are these guys pushing it too much? First, we had foldable smartphones that were not very durable and now this. It makes me wonder if everything in the future will collapse everytime someone sneezes! ๐
@protonvpn @Orzesnet@mastodon.social I have noticed that you haven't included instructions for users of Solus this time. Is there a reason for this? ๐ค
@danarel@mastodon.technology I would like to bring to your attention a few errors on your site (https://www.thinkprivacy.io/). First of all, Telegram does provide a transparency report (https://t.me/transparency) and it is mostly open source. I would also like to mention that Wickr has only only released the source code for its cryptographic protocol as far as I know. I would also like to recommend LBRY as another alternative to Youtube. I am a huge fan of your work and I hope it keeps improving! ๐
@cpt Tutanota did reply to your doubts: https://social.privacytools.io/@cpt/103174218729421176. Please check your sources before assuming anything. Could please explain as to why you think Tutanota has backdoors?
@cpt @Tutanota Being open source allows independant security researchers to identify backdoors and flaws quite quickly. Any backdoor would have already made the news. Tutanota also has a Warrant Canary (https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2014/04/warrant-canary-faq) and publishes a Transparency Report (https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/transparency-report). Tutanota was also subject to an extensive penetration test in 2013 (https://tutanota.com/faq#certification). If there were any backdoors, they would have been uncovered during the test. Keep it up, #Tutanota! ๐ ๐
@protonvpn I am waiting for the GUI to come. It can be quite cumbersome to use the terminal at times.
@geeess@mastodon.social @Tutanota It depends on why you want it. I have tried the #VivaldiBrowser and I found it more suited to advanced/ power users. If you aren't one and are just seeking to improve your privacy, you might want to consider using something like #Brave or #Firefox. #privacy4everyone
@omgubuntu It's nice to be able to have this ecosystem of interchangeable applications coming on the #PinePhone and #Librem5. ๐
@JoshStrobl I don't really drink coffee anyway! ๐
@Tutanota Unlike other secure email providers with similar offerings, #Tutanota was using renewable energy and also provided a handy desktop client. The fact that you supported FOSS also helped. Keep it up! #QuestionTime
@luis_de_sousa @omgubuntu ๐ That was actually funny!
@omgubuntu I am interested in using #Edge for streaming Netflix as it may support 1080p. This may have some use for those who use Microsoft's services (like Azure). However, it is best to be cautious due to #privacy concerns. Sticking to #foss is a good measure. ๐
@omgubuntu While the PinePhone has a very competitve price, it solely relies on the ecosystem of volunteers and developers to build software for it. This will severely affect how easy it will be to use for average users. While the Librem 5 appears to be overpriced, they do far more than provide a piece of hardware and is more oriented towards the consumer market. #librem5 #privacy4everyone
@Tutanota I woud suggest not using the words 'New email'. Something like 'Compose' sounds much better in my opinion. However, I am very much fond of the current appearance of Tutanota. I hope there won't be any drastic changes. I would also prefer if the 'Pencil button' remained. ๐
@Tutanota Frankly, I have never had any issue with signing up anywhere using my Tutanota account. However, it is nice to see that you are addressing problems such as these. Great job, @Tutanota ! Keep it up! ๐ #privacy4everyone
