@Tutanota While privacy-focused apps should be open source, being open source itself does not ensure its privacy or security. There are more factors that can affect an application's security besides just being open source.

@mitchkiah @purism I agree with you! is a great line of products and services. However, I really don't see the need for more acknowledgement as they are already doing a fine job. The number of people using Librem One is rising everyday and that is a testament to this fact.

@Tutanota A much nicer dark theme! A clear improvement. It is great to see keeping their finger on the pulse of the community. 🤓 😎

Here is why you should avoid using SMS for 2FA! If you are on Linux or are planning to get the Librem 5, use GNOME Authenticator.

@jaller94 @emergencyexit @lunduke I am totally behind protecting the users' . However, when we use ad blockers and similar technologies, we are cutting revenue from content creators. offers an elegant solution to this conundrum.

@Tutanota Thanks a lot, guys, for giving us a free tier to use your service! Not everyone can afford to pay and it gives them the opportunity to have their privacy protected. I hope to become a Premium user soon. 👏 👍

@darkijah @an93lofdeath I know right! 😕 Many people seem uninterested in securing their digital lives. It's quite difficult to convince most people to do it. However, this may be because most people are unaware of 'why they need to do it' and how their data is used.

Linux desktops have come a long way but many people still perceive it as being 'difficult'. In this article, Jason Evangelho discusses how to mitigate this issue and encourage wider adoption. 😃

@purism Awesome post! As an average user, I don't usually worry about firmware and hardware attacks. Thanks for educating me on this. Please consider lowering your prices. The Librem 5 and 15 are quite expensive. I really want to get them. 😁 🛡️ 📱 💻

@Tutanota Great article, Arne! I am really fond of your password reset system. It is quite unique. I use a password manager to help me remember both my password and my recovery code! 👍 👏

@Tutanota Great article! I do understand what you are saying and I am glad that you are trying to educate the people, as a company, about privacy on the internet. However, I agree with the others. Perhaps, you need to turn the 'marketing' down a little bit and promote your own services. 😀 🤝

@lfajardo @purism That's an interesting article! I do understand what you are saying. However, most people are not able to go to the lengths that would provide them with a decent amount of privacy protection. Hence, I generally recommend Apple over the likes of Google and Microsoft. It is better to give them some protection over no protection at all. Apple has also been received well by the EFF.

@purism I love the idea behind Librem One. I totally appreciate the fact that you guys chose to support existing services instead of bringing yet another competitor. While most of us don't realise this, most people don't switch to more privacy friendly alternatives due to the lack of convenience and not due to the shortage of alternatives. 👍

@lfajardo @purism
I disagree. Apple does provide quite a bit more privacy compared to most of the other tech companies. What they really fail at is giving the users freedom and complete control over their devices.

@PiratePatriot @purism
This question has actually been answered in their FAQ. The best alternative to having both parties use a Librem 5 phone is to use an E2EE Messenger. 😎 🔒 🛡️

With many improvements in wireless networks yet to come, I still feel that wired networks are superior. There is less interference while being more reliable. Not to mention, all this radiation is probably not good for us as well.
