Ever wondered how to *really* declare device compatibility in AppStream MetaInfo files for your app?
I wrote a short-ish blogpost about that!
Things will also become much nicer to use with AppStream 1.0 soon, with more validation and helper tools π

woohooo good news! thanks to the awesome @joostvb and some help from @NGIZero libopaque is about to be included in #debian (and all dowstream distros, like #ubuntu, #raspian, #devuan and #kali https://ftp-master.debian.org/new/libopaque_0.99.2-1.html

I don't have much hope that new cars will be less invasive of my privacy any time soon, but this sort of project gives me hope that when the time comes to replace my car (hopefully a decade from now), that I might be able to convert it or some other pre-privacy-invasion car to electric.

I have no details, but I just happen to browse the #framasoft forum and discovered that there is an official #peertube app in development ...
Seems like there should be something to see in November;)

To give you a sense of what we talk about: all patches in these folders are those we carry in Mobian.

Mobian started as a hobby project, triggered by the excitement of finally being able to hack oneβs mobile phone at will. It is fair to say that the device that made it possible back then was the original PinePhone. However, after running once again into the same difficulties we experienced over and over, weβre wondering whether maintaining support for this device is still worth the effortβ¦

@gecko @tootbrute @KinmenRisingProject The real difference there comes from @purism having kernel devs on their payroll: in terms of hardware parts, IMHO they didn't make obviously better choices when looking only at the "software support" aspect (heck, even they ended up with a downstream driver for the wifi cards they initially shipped)

@eliasr I don't think anybody is doing the backporting to byzantium atm. Crimson has recent packages (but I wouldn't recommend Crimson for every day phone usage yet). For experiments `l5-fetch-next phosh` gives you current phosh (+next patches) on byzantium (that's what I'm using to run recent phosh on my daily device).
